Early life

Born circa 1991 [1] , Boemeke was raised in a small town in Brazil and attended a Catholic high school. [2] Boemeke began working as a fashion model at the age of 17. [3] After moving to the United States for her modeling career, she read Richard Dawkins The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution, Frans de Waal's Our Inner Ape, and David Deutsch's The Beginning of Infinity , which sparked her interest in science. [3] [2]

Career

In 2016, Boemeke first learned about the benefits of nuclear generated electricity from a tweet by Carolyn Porco about molten salt thorium reactors. [3] [4] [5] [6]

The 2019 Australian bushfire and Amazon rainforest wildfires motivated Boemeke to use her platform to address climate change. [3] [4] She believed that despite its controversial reputation in the media, nuclear generated electricity is necessary to solve climate change. [6] [7]

Boemeke began incorporating climate and energy information into her modeling shoots in 2020. [5]

In February 2020, she created her social media account, Isodope, and began writing, producing, and editing videos that promoted facts about nuclear generated electricity. [6] [8] Inspired by Lil Miquela, she took visual cues from vaporwave and mashed the aesthetic with contemporary social media tropes. [8]

In 2022, Boemeke delivered a TED Talk titled, Nuclear Power is Our Best Hope to Ditch Fossil Fuels, in which she argued that when it comes to nuclear power, the world had been sold a bad meme. [9] By August 2025, Boemeke's TED Talk had been viewed more than 1.8 million times. [10]

Boemeke served as a co-producer of Nuclear Now , a 2022 documentary film directed by Oliver Stone that advocates for nuclear energy as a critical solution to climate change. [11]

In August 2025, Boemeke published Rad Future: The Untold Story of Nuclear Electricity and How It Will Save the World with Thesis, an imprint of Penguin Publishing Group. [12] [13] The book presents an accessible overview of nuclear electricity, its history, and its role in addressing climate change. Written in a conversational style, it includes summaries at the end of each chapter and uses analogies and anecdotes to make technical topics approachable. [13] [14] Coverage of the release noted that the book attracted attention from public figures, including musician Diplo and actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who promoted it on social media. [12]

Activism

In December 2021, she organized protests against the closure of the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant in San Luis Obispo County, California, arguing that the state would struggle to reduce carbon emissions without it. [15] [16] Subsequently, the plant closure has been delayed until 2030. [5] [17]

Time magazine described her as a "Next Generation Leader" in 2022. [5]

Personal Life

She is married to billionaire Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb and a former DOGE official. They live in Austin, Texas with their son. [18]
