István Mudin (16 October 1881 – 22 July 1918) was a Hungarian athlete who competed at the 1906 Intercalated Games and the 1908 Summer Olympics. [1] He competed in various throwing events and the pentathlon at the 1906 Intercalated Games and 1908 Summer Olympics and won two medals in 1906, in pentathlon and discus throw. [2]
He was killed in action in Italy during World War I. [3]
Raymond Clarence Ewry was an American track and field athlete who won eight gold medals at the Olympic Games and two gold medals at the Intercalated Games. This puts him among the most successful Olympians of all time.
The men's discus throw was one of six throwing events on the Athletics at the 1908 Summer Olympics programme in London. The competition was held on 16 July 1908. 42 throwers from eleven nations competed. NOCs could enter up to 12 athletes. The event was won by Martin Sheridan of the United States, his second consecutive victory in the event. The Americans completed their first sweep in the discus throw, with Merritt Giffin taking silver and Bill Horr bronze.
Cecil Patrick Healy was an Australian freestyle swimmer of the 1900s and 1910s, who won silver in the 100 m freestyle at the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm. He also won gold in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. He was killed in the First World War at the Somme during an attack on a German trench. Healy was the second swimmer behind Frederick Lane to represent Australia in Swimming and has been allocated the number "2" by Swimming Australia on a list of all Australians who have represented Australia at an Open International Level.
Knut Andreas "Knatten" Lindberg was a Swedish athlete who competed at the 1906 Intercalated Games and the 1908 and 1912 Summer Olympics. He had his best results in 1906 when he won a silver medal in javelin throw and finished fifth in ancient pentathlon and sixth in the 100 m race. He won another silver medal in 1912, with the Swedish 4 × 100 m relay team, but failed to reach the finals in all his other events in 1908 and 1912, which included sprint and javelin throw.
Lajos Gönczy was a Hungarian high jumper. He participated in Athletics at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis and the 1906 Intercalated Games in Athens and won two medals.
Eric Otto Valdemar Lemming was a Swedish track and field athlete who competed at the 1900, 1906, 1908 and 1912 Olympics in a wide variety of events, which mostly involved throwing and jumping. He had his best results in the javelin throw, which he won at the 1906–1912 Games, and in which he set multiple world records between 1899 and 1912. His last record, measured at 62.32 m, was ratified by the International Association of Athletics Federations as the first official world record.

György Luntzer was a Hungarian track and field athlete and sport wrestler. A three-time Hungarian Athletics Championships winner in the discus throw, he also participated at the 1908 Summer Olympics and the 1912 Summer Olympics, achieving his best result in 1908 by finishing seventh in the discus throw event.
Imre Mudin was a Hungarian teacher, track and field athlete and soldier. An all-around sportsman, he won national titles in shot put, discus throw and javelin throw as well. Mudin was present at the 1908 Summer Olympics and the 1912 Summer Olympics, achieving his best result, a sixth place in shot put at the latter one.
Henry Alan Leeke was a British track and field athlete who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics.
Karl Leban was an Austrian speed skater and modern pentathlete who competed in the 1936 Winter Olympics and in the 1936 Summer Olympics. At the Winter Games he finished sixth in the 500 m and twelfth in the 1500 m event. At the Summer Games he placed 26th in the modern pentathlon. Leban finished fourth allround at the 1932 European Speed Skating Championships. Domestically he won athletics titles in the 5000 m, 4×1500 m relay and 1500 m (1937). He died during World War II when his fighter plane crashed in Ukraine.

Simon Okker was a Dutch Olympic epee and foil fencer, who was killed in the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Jean de Mas Latrie was a French fencer and modern pentathlete. He competed in the individual sabre event at the 1908 Summer Olympics and the modern pentathlon at the 1912 Summer Olympics where he was undefeated in fencing until losing to future U.S. general George S. Patton who was also competing in these events, Patton was the only man Jean lost to in said event. He was killed in action during World War I.
Combined events at the Summer Olympics have been contested in several formats at the multi-sport event. There are two combined track and field events in the current Olympic athletics programme: a men's decathlon and a women's heptathlon.
