The Italair F.20 Pegaso was a twin-engine utility aircraft designed by Stelio Frati and built in Italy in 1971.

Design and development

It had the sleek lines typical of Frati's designs and was a conventional low-wing cantilever monoplane with retractable tricycle undercarriage. Construction throughout was of metal, and the aircraft was notable at the time for its high speed, much greater than that of its competitors. The prototype Pegaso was exhibited at the 1973 Paris Air Show. Before arrangements could be made to produce the aircraft in series, however, Italair ran out of money, and the rights to the design reverted to Frati.

In the early 1980s, Frati designed a modernised version of the aircraft, powered by Allison 250 turboprop engines in place of the Pegaso's piston engines and equipped with a large sliding bubble canopy. Built by Frati's own company, General Avia, and named the F.20TP Condor, this version first flew on 7 May 1983. Frati hoped that this version might attract military buyers who could use it for training, maritime patrol, or even ground attack, and the prototype was equipped with two pylons under each wing to demonstrate its capacity to carry external stores. Although exhibited at the Paris Air Show in 1985, development of the Condor was postponed in favour of the Promavia Jet Squalus that Frati was working on at the time, and was eventually abandoned.

The Anahuac Tauro is a Mexican agricultural aircraft built in small numbers in the late 1960s and 1970s. The first prototype flew on 3 December 1968, with Mexican Type certification following on 8 August 1969. It was a low-wing braced monoplane of conventional configuration with fixed tailwheel undercarriage. The wing was of constant chord and had spray bars installed along its trailing edge.

The Anderson EA-1 Kingfisher is a US two-seat amphibious aircraft designed and marketed for homebuilding. It was the work of Earl William Anderson, a Pan Am airline captain, who flew the prototype on 24 April 1969. By 1978, 200 sets of kits for the plane had been sold, and 100 Kingfishers were reported to be under construction. The aircraft is a shoulder-wing monoplane with a flying boat hull and outrigger pontoons. On land, it uses retractable tailwheel undercarriage. The single engine with a tractor propeller is mounted in a nacelle above the wing. Some builders utilize the wings from a Piper Cub rather than making their own.

The Vulcanair SF.600 Canguro was a feederliner developed in Italy in the late 1970s. Despite a number of attempts to put the aircraft into series production, only a small number were ever built. The Canguro was a high-wing cantilever monoplane of conventional configuration with a fuselage of rectangular cross-section and a high-set tail. The tricycle undercarriage was not retractable, and its main units were carried on sponsons on the fuselage sides. SIAI Marchetti provided funding towards the construction of the prototype, and constructed this aircraft at the former Aviamilano plant. After flight testing proved positive, the type was put on sale, but failed to attract buyers in any number, even when the original piston engines were exchanged for turboprops and retractable undercarriage was offered as an option.

The IAR-827 was an agricultural aircraft built in Romania in the 1970s and 1980s. The penultimate member of the family of designs that began with the IAR-821, it was, like the others, a conventional low-wing monoplane with fixed, tailwheel undercarriage, and shared the all-metal construction of the IAR-826. The prototype flew in 1976, powered by a Lycoming IO-720 engine, but the production examples that followed all had the PZL-3S.

The light multipurpose aircraft T-101 "Grach" or "Rook" in English, was based on the An-2 biplane and planned as a replacement for it. The design is focused on low cost, high reliability, and operating from unprepared airfields. The T-101 can carry 10 passengers, or transport 1600 kg of cargo. It can be used for agricultural, patrol, aerial photography, search and rescue, airborne and other utility functions. The T-101 has a strut-braced high-wing, fixed landing gear with tail wheel and a single engine in the nose.
