The Union of European Football Associations is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan, as well as the West Asian countries of Cyprus, Armenia and Israel. UEFA consists of 55 national association members. Since 2022, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, FIFA and UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

The final was contested by Milan and Liverpool on 23 May 2007. Beforehand, the match was billed as a repeat of the 2005 final, the only difference being that the 2007 final was to be played at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece. Milan won the match 2–1 to claim their seventh European Cup, with both goals coming from Filippo Inzaghi. Dirk Kuyt scored for Liverpool.
The 2006–07 UEFA Cup was the 36th edition of the UEFA Cup, Europe's second-tier club football tournament. On 16 May 2007, at Hampden Park, Glasgow, Scotland, Sevilla won their second consecutive UEFA Cup, defeating Espanyol 3–1 on penalties after the match finished 2–2 after extra time. Sevilla became the second side to win the competition for two consecutive seasons, following the hiatus of the original record holder Real Madrid achieved in 1985 and 1986.

The club was formed in 1980 and competed in women's Serie A until 2015. Torres's colours were blue and red. The team won seven scudetti and eight Italian Women's Cups. They were refused a license for the 2015–16 Serie A season due to debts and now compete in Serie B.
Patrizia Panico is an Italian former footballer who is formerly the manager of Fiorentina in the Italian women's Serie A. A prolific goalscorer, Panico is a longstanding member of the Italy women's national team; she won over 185 caps for Italy, and also served as her national side's captain. She is a veteran of Italy's 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013 UEFA Women's Championship campaigns and played at the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup. In a club career that spanned more than two decades, Panico won ten Scudetti and collected five Coppa Italia winner's medals with her various clubs. She was Serie A's top scorer on 14 occasions and spent part of 2010 in the United States, representing Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) club Sky Blue. Panico is nicknamed "The Scorpion" due to her deadly goalscoring instincts.
Melania Gabbiadini is an Italian former football forward. After beginning her career with Bergamo in 2000, she later joined AGSM Verona in 2004 and went on to captain the team, until her retirement in 2017. She won five Scudetti with the club.

The 2020–21 Serie A (women) was the 54th season of the women's football top level league in Italy. It began on 23 August 2020 and concluded on 23 May 2021. Juventus were the defending champions, after being crowned league winners as the previous season could not be completed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They won the competition for fourth consecutive season, equalling the feat reached by Torres in 2013. The Bianconere became the ninth in the Italian women's top flight to won the competition unbeaten, equalling the result achieved the previous season, becoming also the third to reach it in consecutive seasons and the first to accomplish a perfect season having won all their league matches, an unprecedented feat in Italian men's or women's football history. Consequently, the club holds the record for the most points in a championship with 12 team contestants (66).
