Ivan Pešić (born 17 March 1989) is a Croatian handball goalkeeper for HBC Nantes. [1]
The first few years as a player played Pešić in his hometown Rijeka in RK Zamet and with production license in Croatian second division club RK Senj. He then played for the Hungarian club MKB Veszprém KC, with which he won in the 2008/09 season, league and cup, as well as the Croatian first division club RK Zagreb, with whom he won three times the double. In 2012 he joined the Slovenian club RK Maribor Branik . After one season, he signed with the Belarusian club HC Meshkov Brest, with whom he again champion and cup winner was, 2014.
At a dance hall in February 2009 some Hungarian-Romani people attacked Pešić and teammate Marian Cozma with a knife. Pešić was so badly injured by a knife that he had to remove a kidney. [2] His teammate Marian Cozma died after two stab wounds to the heart, another colleague, Žarko Šešum, suffered skull fractures due to heavy kicks to the head. [3]
Even though Pešić was an unseen substitute at the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship in Croatia he still won a medal.
Pešić has played for Croatia at the 2011 World Championship, 2013 Mediterranean Games and has recently been called up for the 2016 Summer Olympics qualification tournament [4]
Valter Matošević is a former Croatian team handball player who was at the goalkeeper position. He played for professional teams in Croatia, Germany, Spain, Denmark and Italy. He is current handball coach.

Marian Cozma was a Romanian handball player. He was born in Tei, Bucharest and died in Veszprém, Hungary after being attacked and stabbed in a nightclub fight. During his career he played for HC Dinamo București and KC Veszprém and he was also a member of the Romanian national handball team.
In the Veszprém stabbing of 8 February 2009, a group of Romani people stabbed three members of the MKB Veszprém handball team in a bar in Veszprém, Hungary. One of them, Marian Cozma, was killed.
RK Zamet is a handball club from Rijeka, Croatia, formed in 1957. The club currently competes in the Croatian Premier Handball League and the Croatian Handball Cup. Although the club has not won any mayor trophies, it has produced four Olympic gold medalists: Valter Matošević, Alvaro Načinović, Valner Franković and Mirza Džomba. The 2016–17 season was the sixth season of the SEHA League and third under the sponsorship of the Russian oil and gas company Gazprom. Ten teams from seven countries participated in that year's competition.
The 2019–20 SEHA League season was the ninth season of the SEHA League and sixth under the sponsorship of the Russian oil and gas company Gazprom. Twelve teams from nine countries (Belarus, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia and China were participating in this year's competition. On 13 August the Executive Committee of the SEHA – Gazprom League has made a decision that because of the crucial disagreements over conditions regarding the participation in the 2019/20 season, Tatabánya will not participate in the SEHA – Gazprom League this season.
