Ivar Egeberg (born 11 March 1950) is a Norwegian sports official, retired athlete and politician for the Centre Party.

Career

He served as a deputy representative to the Parliament of Norway from Akershus during the term 19891993. Between 1997 and 1998, during the first cabinet Bondevik, he was appointed as a State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. [1] On the local level, he was elected to Sørum municipal council in 1983, and later became deputy mayor during the periods 19871991 and 1999present, and mayor during the term 19951999. In 2006 he was hired as secretary general of the Centre Party. [2] He left in September 2009. [3]

Outside politics he was the secretary-general of the Norwegian Trotting Association (19851988), the Norwegian Football Association (19881996) and the Norwegian Olympic Committee and Confederation of Sports (19982004). He has also been involved in the Bislett Games. [2]

Awards

As an active athlete he won the silver medal at the national marathon championships in 1979, behind Jan Fjærestad, and a bronze medal in 1980. [4] He represented the sports club IL i BUL. His personal best marathon time was 2:17:03 hours, achieved in September 1979 in Drammen. [5] He also chaired the club from 1985 to 1986. [6]

Ingrid Kristiansen is a Norwegian former athlete. She was one of the best female long-distance runners during the 1980s. She is a former world record holder in the 5000 metres, 10,000 metres and the marathon. Kristiansen was a World Champion on the track, roads and cross-country, becoming the first athlete to win World titles on all three surfaces. At the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, she finished fourth in the first women's Olympic marathon. At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, she dropped out of the 10,000 metres final while leading. Early in her career, she was also an elite cross country skier, winning several Norwegian titles and a European junior championships.

The Egebergs Ærespris is a prize awarded to Norwegian athletes who excel in more than one sport. The prize was created by Ferdinand Julian Egeberg, and consists of a bronze statuette modelled by sculptor Magnus Vigrestad.

Magnar Lundemo was a Norwegian cross-country skier and track and field athlete. As a skier he participated in two Olympic Games and placed fourth at the 1962 World Championships. In the athletics he took several national titles, and recorded one nineteenth place at the 1962 European Championships. He was also a coach.
