Jack Cartwright (born 22 September 1998) is an Australian swimmer.

He is scheduled to make his Olympics debut at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on 27 July 2024.

Early life and career

Cartwright was raised in Biloela, Queensland where during his childhood he would travel to Gladstone for training, moving to the city in 2008 where he trained with the Gladstone Gladiators. [1] [2]

After securing a scholarship, Cartwright relocated to Brisbane in 2014 to attend private Lutheran school St Peters College. [2]

At the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, Cartwright won gold medals in the 200 metre freestyle, 100 metre freestyle (where he set a Championships record of 48.91 seconds in the preliminaries), 50 metre freestyle, and the 4×200 metre freestyle relay, a silver medal in 4×100 metre freestyle relay, and a bronze medal in the 4×100 metre medley relay. He competed in the men's 100 metre freestyle event at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. [4] [5]

At the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, Cartwright won two gold medals as part of the teams who won the 4x100m freestyle relay and the 4x100m medley relay. [2] [6]

Cartwright was part of the winning 4 x 100 metre relay and the 4 x 100 metre freestyle teams at the 2022 and 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest and Fukushima respectively, winning a collective total of three gold medals and one silver medal. [7] [8] Following this success, Cartwright won another silver medal at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha as part of the mixed 4 x 100 metre freestyle relay team. [9]

Following the 2024 Australian Swimming Trials in Brisbane, Cartwright was named as part of the Australian swimming team to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. [10]

Mollie Grace O'Callaghan is an Australian swimmer and the reigning Olympic champion in the 200 m freestyle. She was the 2023 world champion in the women's 100m and 200m freestyle individual events, and part of the world champion 4 × 100 m and 4 × 200 m Australian women's relay teams together with 4 × 100 m mixed relay team. She previously held the world record in the women's individual 200m freestyle.

Meg Harris, is an Australian swimmer. She is a world record holder in the 4×100 metre freestyle relay. She competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics, where she won a gold medal in the 4×100 metre freestyle relay and a bronze medal in the 4×200 metre freestyle relay and also in the 2024 Summer Olympics, having won a gold medal in the 4×100 metre freestyle relay. Harris also won an individual silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the 50 m freestyle. She is also the co-founder of the clothing brand Dally&Co Label.

Isaac Cooper is an Australian swimmer. He competed in the men's 100 metre backstroke and in the heats of the 4x100 metre mixed medley relay at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Lewis Edward Burras is a British competitive swimmer. He is the former British record holder in the long course 100-metre freestyle. He is a 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist in the 50-metre freestyle, 4 × 100-metre freestyle relay, and 4×100-metre mixed freestyle relay, swimming on the finals relay for both relay events. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, he won a bronze medal in the 4×100-metre medley relay, swimming freestyle on the prelims relay, placed seventh in the 50-metre freestyle and seventh in the 100-metre freestyle. Flynn Southam is an Australian swimmer. At the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, he won gold medals in the 50 metre freestyle, 100 metre freestyle, and 200 metre freestyle. In the 4×100 metre freestyle relay, he won a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games as well as silver medals at the 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships and the 2022 World Short Course Championships, swimming on the finals relay at each competition. In the 4×200 metre freestyle relay, he won gold medals as a finals relay member at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and 2022 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, and a silver medal at the 2022 World Short Course Championships.
