The Jack Simpson Gymnasium is a multipurpose facility on the University of Calgary campus. It opened in 1987 to help host the 1988 XV Olympic Winter Games. It has three full gymnasiums, three basketball courts, five volleyball courts, and an indoor football/soccer field. The "Jack" is home to the Dinos volleyball and basketball teams. With a max seating capacity of 3454, it has hosted several CIS Championships, the annual Husky Dino Cup volleyball tournament, World League volleyball matches, and is the site for the University of Calgary's annual convocation ceremonies." The facility is named after Jackson L. Simpson (1920-1984), the founder and former president of CANA Construction Company.
The University of Calgary is a public research university located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The University of Calgary started in 1944 as the Calgary branch of the University of Alberta, founded in 1908, prior to being instituted into a separate, autonomous university in 1966. Pete Mathews Coliseum is a 3,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Jacksonville, Alabama. It is home to the Jacksonville State University Gamecocks men's and women's basketball teams as well as the women's volleyball team. It also hosts the annual Calhoun County High School Basketball Tournament held each January, in which all high school basketball teams in Calhoun County, Alabama compete. The arena has been the annual host for this event since the early 1990s. Prior to that time, the event was held in different facilities around Calhoun County. The venue opened in 1974 when the basketball team moved there from Stephenson Hall. In addition to the arena, the coliseum also houses an indoor swimming pool. Prior to the 2015 renovation, a concourse that was used as a jogging track circled the basketball court.

The tournament was cancelled on the first day that games were scheduled to be played due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the first time that a national championship had not been played since it was first unofficially contested in 1970.
The 2022 U Sports Women's Volleyball Championship was held March 25–27, 2022, in Calgary, Alberta, to determine a national champion for the 2021–22 U Sports women's volleyball season. The top-seeded Trinity Western Spartans defeated the seventh-seeded Mount Royal Cougars to win the second championship in program history.
The 2007 CIS Women's Volleyball Championship was held March 1, 2007 to March 3, 2007, in Calgary, Alberta, to determine a national champion for the 2006–07 CIS women's volleyball season. The tournament was played at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium and was hosted by the University of Calgary. This was the fourth time that the University of Calgary had hosted the tournament, including the previous year's championship in 2006.
