Winneshiek County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2010 census, the population was 21,056. The county seat is Decorah.

The Trout River is a 13.5-mile-long (21.7 km) tributary of the Upper Iowa River in northeastern Iowa. It is joined from the west by a major tributary, Trout Creek. The river and creek should not be confused with another Trout Creek which flow into the Upper Iowa River 5 miles (8 km) to the west at Decorah.
