Jagmohan Singh Kang is an Indian politician and a member of Aam Aadmi Party. He was a member of Punjab Vidhan Sabha from Kharar from 2012 to 2017. From 2002 to 2007 he was the Minister for Animal Husbandry,Dairy Development Tourism &Fisheries in Punjab Government. [1]
His father's name was Late S. Surinderpal Singh Kang. He was IPS (Retd.) &Ex-Army Officer. He was from Traditional Congress Jat Sikh family of Village Shahidgarh in Fatehgarh Sahib District and Boor Majra in Ropar District with agriculturist background. [2]
Jagmohan Singh Kang was the MLA from Kharar. He was associated with Indian National Congress till January,2022. He was elected as MLA from this vidhan sabha seat in the elections held in 2012. He won by a margin of 6776 votes. Ujagar Singh of SAD was the trailing candidate. In 2017 he was the candidate from INC and lost to Kanwar Sandhu (AAP) by a margin of 2012 votes. He secured 52159 votes.

He was elected to the Punjab Legislative Assembly in 1992 from Morinda. [3] He was re-elected from Morinda in 2002 and from Kharar in 2012. [4] [5] [6] In 2012 he was made a cabinet minister in Punjab and given portfolios of Housing &Urban Development. [1]
On 1 February 2022,he joined Aam Aadmi Party after quitting Indian National Congress. His two sons also joined AAP. [7]
Bhagwant Singh Mann is an Indian politician and Member of parliament from Punjab. He is a former actor and satirist. Since May 2014,he is the Member of parliament,Lok Sabha for Sangrur constituency,Punjab. On 18 January 2022 he was chosen as the Chief Minister of Punjab candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party for the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election based on a public poll in which Aam Aadmi Party claims 93% wanted Bhagwant Maan as the chief ministerial candidate.

Politics in reorganised present-day Punjab is dominated by mainly three parties –Indian National Congress,Aam Aadmi Party and Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal). Since 1967,Chief Minister of Punjab has been predominantly from Jatt Sikh community despite its 21 percent state population. Only exception was Giani Zail Singh,the Chief Minister of Punjab from 17 March 1972 to 30 April 1977 belonging to Ramgarhia community that has population of 6 percent and is a part of significant OBC community having population of 31.3 percent in the state. However Scheduled Castes (Dalit) community never had Chief Minister from community nor proper representation in Government,despite having 32 percent population in the state. Other prominent party is Bahujan Samaj Party especially in Doaba region founded by Kanshi Ram of Rupnagar district. In 1992 BSP won 9 seats Vidhan Sabha elections. Also BSP won 3 lok sabha seats from Punjab in 1996 general elections and only Garhshanker seat in 1997 Vidhan Sabha elections. Communist parties too have some influence in the Malwa area. In the 2014 general elections,the first-time contesting Aam Aadmi Party got 4 out of 13 seats in Punjab by winning 34 of the total 117 assembly segments,coming second in 7,third in 73 and fourth in the rest 3 segments. The support for the Aam Aadmi Party increased later in Punjab. The current Government was elected in the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections and the Congress won 77 out of 117 Assembly seats with Captain Charanjit Singh Channi as the current Chief Minister. The AAP,fighting its first assembly election in the state,won 20 seats. The incumbent BJP-SAD alliance came third with 18 seats.Captain Amarinder Singh resigned on 18 September 2021. After which Charanjit Singh Channi became cheif minister in Punjab.
