Jairam Kumar Mahato (born 27 September 1994) popularly known as Tiger Jairam is an Indian activist and politician. [1] [2] He is serving as the member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from the Dumri Assembly constituency on the symbol of Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha,a newly formed political party for safeguarding Jharkhandi local languages and cultural heritage. Mahato is the founder of Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha,formerly known as Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatiyan Sangharsh Samiti. [7] He fought 2024 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election from Dumri Assembly constituency and Bermo Assembly constituency seats. [8] [9] He registered a historic win from Dumri seat by defeating the sitting minister Baby Devi but lost the Bermo seat,claiming the second spot. [10] [11] [12]
Jairam Kumar Mahato was born to Krishna Prasad Mahato on 27 September 1994 at Mantand village of Topchanchi,Dhanbad. [13] [14] Mahato hails from a family deeply connected to Jharkhand's statehood movement. [15] His father was an organizer in the movement for Jharkhand's statehood. He was just two years old when his father lost his life from head injuries sustained during a protest. [16] [10] [17]
He completed Master of Arts in English from P. K. Roy Memorial College,Dhanbad,under Vinoba Bhave University in 2017. [18]
Jairam Kumar Mahato fought 2024 Indian general election from Giridih Lok Sabha constituency as an independent candidate at the age of 29 years. He got 347332 votes and stood at the third position,while Mathura Prasad Mahato of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha stood second and Chandra Prakash Choudhary of All Jharkhand Students Union won the election. Loknath Mahato was a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) in the state of Jharkhand,India,elected from constituency Barkagaon which is in the Hazaribagh district of the state. He was first elected in 1995. Since then he has been re-elected three times,representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),one of the main national parties of India. He was one of the contenders in the 12 December 2019 Jharkhand state assembly elections from Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). Aklu Ram Mahto was an Indian politician from Jharkhand,who served as Minister for Finance and Institution in undivided Bihar. He was a member of Rashtriya Janata Dal,having served as important functionary in several other political parties in past. He was a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly via Bokaro constituency. He won the Bihar Assembly Election in 1995 securing 99,798 votes. Mahto won Vidhan Sabha elections in the year 1980 and 1995. Mahto was also associated with the movement,which started on the question of including Manbhum in West Bengal.
