The James A. Garfield Local School District is a school district located in Garrettsville, Ohio, United States. The school district consists of one high school, one middle school and one elementary school.
The James A. Garfield Local School District formed in 1951 with the consolidation of Nelson, Freedom and Garrettsville Township Schools. The school district is named after the 20th United States President James A. Garfield. [2]
James A. Garfield Intermediate School was closed in 2015 consolidating grades into the current elementary and middle school buildings. [3]
Recent renovations have been undertaken to update classrooms, athletic fields, and support programs; for instance, a new all-weather track and field complex was dedicated in 2025. [4]
