Datuk James Wong (born 26 June 1953) is a former Malaysian footballer who is a striker for Malaysian national football team and Sabah. He also played as a goalkeeper for the Malaysia youth team in the 1971 AFC Youth Championship. He was known as King James by the local fans. [2] [3]

Career Overview

Wong was the first Sabahan to represent Malaysia in 1971. In 1974, He went Down Under to join Hakoah Sydney, the Australian club, at the invitation of former Malaysian head coach, Dave MacLaren. [4] He played professionally for the club in New South Wales Premier League for two years. [5] Wong is well-known for his physical and finishing touch. His partnership with Hassan Sani produced many memorable goals for Sabah and Malaysia. The most memorable one was in the 1980 Olympic games qualification. In the qualification, Malaysia won the play-off against South Korea with a 2–1 score at the Merdeka Stadium. Wong himself scored the winning goal off a pass from Hassan. [6] [7] [8] [9] Unfortunately, Malaysia did not participate after joining the US-led boycott against the Soviet Union for its role in supporting the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan against the Islamic Unity of Afghanistan Mujahideen. Wong also appeared for Malaysia in six qualifying matches of the FIFA World Cup. [10]

Jeffrey Gapari Kitingan is Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah I since January 2023 and State Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of Sabah for the second term since September 2020. He served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah II from October 2020 to his promotion in January 2023 and the first term in the position in May 2018. In January 2023, he was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister I of Sabah succeeding Bung Mokhtar, who was dropped due to a political crisis. At the federal level, he served as the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture from March 2020 to his resignation in September 2020 and Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government from August 1994 to May 1995. He has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Keningau since May 2018, Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tambunan since May 2018 and Bingkor from May 2013 to May 2018. Majlis Perbandaran Muar Football Club or commonly known MP Muar FC was a Malaysian football club based in Muar, Johor. The club home ground was the Sultan Ibrahim Mini Stadium in Muar. Wetrom bin Bahanda is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kota Marudu since November 2022 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bandau since September 2020. He served as the State Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister of Sabah in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state administration under Chief Minister Hajiji Noor from October 2020 to his resignation in October 2022. Hendrus Anding is a Malaysian politician who has served as State Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industries of Sabah in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state administration under Chief Minister Hajiji Noor and Minister Jeffrey Kitingan since October 2020 as well as Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tandek since September 2020. He is a member of the United Sabah Party (PBS), a component party of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition. He has also served as the Assistant Secretary-General of PBS since January 2021.

Samad bin Jambri is a Malaysian politician who has served as the State Assistant Minister of Rural Development of Sabah in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state administration under Chief Minister Hajiji Noor and Minister Jahid Jahim since October 2020 as well as Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Labuk since September 2020. He is a member of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (GAGASAN), a component party of the GRS coalition. He was a formerly member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party of Sabah, a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN). He left Sabah BERSATU on 10 December 2022 and joined GAGASAN on 5 February 2023.
