Jamie Rutland Grosshans (born 1978 or 1979) [1] is a justice of the Supreme Court of Florida.
Grosshans grew up in Brookhaven,Miss., [2] and graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law. During law school,she clerked for the United States Department of Justice Civil Rights Division in Washington,D.C.,and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi. Following admittance to The Florida Bar,she served as an Assistant State Attorney for Orange County,Florida in both the misdemeanor and felony divisions where she tried numerous criminal jury trials.
Grosshans later founded her own law firm where she focused on family law and criminal defense matters for nearly ten years. In her family law practice,Grosshans represented individuals in dissolution of marriage,child support and paternity matters,modifications,adoptions and other domestic issues. She also served as a Guardian ad Litem in domestic cases and dependency court. [3]
In her criminal defense practice,she represented individuals charged with misdemeanors and felonies as well as juvenile delinquency,violation of probation and injunction matters. During this time she also served as an adjunct professor at Valencia College where she taught Hospitality Law for the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program for seven years.
Grosshans has been an active member of the Orange County Bar Association,the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers,and the George C. Young Inns of Court. She regularly speaks to lawyers and law students on topics such as challenges in the practice of law,the role of judges,criminal law,and family law. [3]
In 2011,she worked for Operation Outcry in Orlando,Florida "in helping a 16-year-old girl whose parents were trying to force her into having an abortion." [4]
Grosshans is a member of the Christian Legal Society and a Blackstone Fellow of the Alliance Defending Freedom. [4]
Grosshans was appointed to the Supreme Court of Florida on September 14,2020 by Ron DeSantis. Previously she was appointed to the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeal in 2018 by Rick Scott. Prior to her appointment to the appellate court,she served as an Orange County Court Judge in the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida where she presided over criminal and civil matters. [3]

She was arrested on February 11,2021,on two felony charges of falsifying physical evidence,two misdemeanor charges of tampering with public records,and a misdemeanor charge of unsworn falsification. She resigned her position as a judge on February 16,2021. On February 25,2022,she was disbarred from the practice of law.
Monique Haughton Worrell is a prosecutor and Democratic politician who has served as the state attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida since January 2021. On August 9,2023 Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suspended Worrell from her office and appointed circuit judge Andrew Bain as acting state attorney for the remaining duration of her term. Worrell ran for a second-term against Bain. In 2024,Worrell was re-elected to a second term.
Lody Jean is a judge in Florida's 11th Judicial Circuit Court,Criminal Division. She was appointed to the court on April 17,2020 by Governor Ron DeSantis. to replace John Schlesinger. Jean served on the Miami-Dade County Court,Civil Division,from April 2019,until her appointment to the circuit court. She was the first Haitian-American woman to be appointed on the Miami-Dade County Court and is the first Haitian-American to be appointed to the Eleventh Circuit Court.
Renee A. Roche is a retired American judge who served for over 25 years in Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit Court,encompassing Orange and Osceola Counties. She was Florida's first specialized business court judge,setting an example for the development of other business courts outside of the Ninth Circuit. She served in four of the Ninth Circuit's judicial divisions,and was a leader as an administrative judge and associate administrative judge in the criminal and civil divisions.
