Jane Davidson (born 19 March 1957) [1] is a Welsh former Labour politician,the former Assembly Member for Pontypridd,and served as minister for environment,sustainability and housing in the Welsh Government. She also previously served as the Welsh vice-president of the Ramblers' Association,stepping down when appointed minister for environment,sustainability and housing in 2007. She announced in 2008 that she would not be seeking re-election to the assembly in 2011. [2]
Prior to her election to the Welsh Assembly Davidson was a member of Cardiff City Council. [1] [2] In the Assembly she was minister for environment and sustainability in Wales from 2007 to 2011 where she was responsible for the Welsh Government agreeing to make sustainable development its central organising principle. Prior to that she was minister for education and lifelong learning where she introduced a new foundation phase for 3- to 7-year-olds,the Welsh Baccalaureate and Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC) into the Welsh curriculum. In 2011,following her ministerial career and subsequent move to West Wales as planned,Davidson took up employment as director of the Wales Institute for Sustainability at the local Trinity St David University shortly afterwards,which intends to introduce sustainability content into every student's experience from 2013. [3]
In 2017,Jane was guest faculty in the Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership programme at Harvard University's T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Davidson was the third most influential environmentalist in the UK for the Independent on Sunday in 2009 [4] and has been Resource magazine's number one and two in 2009 and 2010 for her work on waste. [5] She holds honorary fellowships from CIW (Chartered Institute of Waste) and CIWEM (Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management) and is a member of WWF's UK Council of Global Ambassadors. [6] Davidson was a judge on the 2011 Green Awards [7] and is a member of the Telegraph's summit team writing about the green economy in the run up to Rio+20.
Gwenda Thomas is a Welsh Labour politician who served as Member of the Welsh Assembly for Neath from the Assembly's start in 1999 to 2016. Thomas was first elected to the National Assembly for Wales in 1999 and re-elected in 2003,having almost doubled her majority.

He was Minister for Children,Education &Lifelong Learning from 2009 to 2011,then Minister for Education and Skills in the Welsh Government until his resignation on 25 June 2013 after an alleged conflict between his own departmental policy and his active campaigning to save a school in his constituency. In September 2014 he returned to the government as Minister for Public Services.
Christine Margery Gwyther is a Welsh Labour politician,who served as Member of the Welsh Assembly for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire from 1999 to 2007,having won the seat in the first National Assembly for Wales elections in 1999. She was also the first person to hold responsibility for Agriculture in the Welsh Government,serving as Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development from May 1999 to July 2000. She lost her seat in the 2007 Welsh Assembly Elections,to Conservative candidate Angela Burns.
Jeffrey Hambley Cuthbert is a Welsh politician. He served as Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner from 2016 to 2024. Cuthbert served as a Labour Party member of the National Assembly for Wales for Caerphilly from 2003 to 2016. He began his career in the mining industry and later worked for the Welsh Joint Education Committee as head of the Asset to Industry Unit.
Susan Lesley Griffiths is a Welsh Labour politician who was Cabinet Secretary for Culture and Social Justice from March to July 2024. She previously served as Trefnydd of the Senedd and Minister for North Wales from 2021 to 2024,and Minister for Rural Affairs from 2016 to 2024. She reshuffled her frontbench team after the 2011 National Assembly for Wales election before her party's seat share was reduced from five to one at the 2016 National Assembly for Wales election,with Williams becoming the party's sole assembly member (AM).
