Jane Nambakire Mulemwa is a Ugandan chemist and educator. She is the chairperson of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda. [1]

Background and education

She was born in the Central Region of Uganda on 18 September 1953. She attended Mount St Mary's College Namagunga. She studied chemistry and biology at Makerere University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree and a concurrent Diploma of Education. From 1976 until 1979, she studied for her master's degree in chemistry, also at Makerere. She attended Queen's University Belfast from 1980 until 1982, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry in 1982. [2]

Career

While pursuing her master's degree at Makerere University from 1976 until 1979, Mulemwa taught undergraduates in the Department of Education at the university and taught high school students at the nearby Makerere College School. Between 1980 and 1982, while pursuing her doctorate degree in Belfast, she was a "demonstrator" to undergraduates in chemistry at Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland. [2]

She returned to Uganda in 1982 to be a lecturer in chemistry and science education at Makerere University. In 1988, she served as senior lecturer in chemistry and science education at the Department of Science and Technical Education, serving in that capacity until 1998. She then joined the Education Service Commission, rising to the rank of deputy chairperson. [2]

In 2015, she was appointed by President Yoweri Museveni to chair the newly created Petroleum Authority of Uganda, the autonomous regulator of the petroleum industry. In September 2015, Uganda's parliament approved her appointment. [3] [4] [5]

She served in the Cabinet of Uganda as Minister of Energy and Minerals from 2002 to 2006, Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development from 2006 to 2008, Minister of Finance from 2009 to 2011, and Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development again from 2011 to 2012. She was also the elected Member of Parliament for Nakaseke County North, Nakaseke District She was the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on National Economy and also Chairperson of the Parliamentary Islamic Banking Forum. She was Sub-Saharan Africa's representative to the OIC Women Advisory Panel.

Jennifer Musisi Ugandan lawyer, administrator and academic

Jennifer Semakula Musisi is a Ugandan lawyer and public administrator. She is the first City Leader in Residence at Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative at the Ash Center of the Harvard Kennedy School, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. She was appointed to this position in January 2019.

Mariam Najjemba Mbabaali, formerly known as Rosemary Najjemba Muyinda is a Ugandan politician. She served as the State Minister for Urban Planning in the Ugandan Cabinet from 15 August 2012, until 6 June 2016, when she was dropped from cabinet. In the cabinet, she replaced Justine Lumumba Kasule, who was appointed Government Chief Whip. Najjemba served as the elected Member of Parliament for Gomba County, Gomba District on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party ticket, for two consecutive terms, from 2006 until 2016.

Frank Kagyigyi Tumwebaze is a Ugandan educator and politician of the National Resistance Movement political party. He is the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, effective 8 June 2021.

Sarah Ndoboli Kataike is a Ugandan politician. She is the current State Minister for Luweero Triangle, in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 25 July 2013. Prior to that, from 15 August 2012 until 25 July 2013, she served as the State Minister of Health for General Duties. She replaced Richard Nduhura, who was appointed Uganda's Ambassador to the United Nations. She is also the elected Member of Parliament for Budaka District Women's Constituency on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party ticket.

John Pancras Mukasa Lubowa Ssebuwufu, commonly known as John Ssebuwufu is a Ugandan chemist, academic and administrator. He is the current chancellor of Kyambogo University, Uganda's second-largest public university. He was installed as chancellor on 19 February 2014, replacing Eric Tiyo Adriko, who had completed his two term tenure. The correct spelling of his last name is Ssebuwufu. However the literature contains many instances where the name is spelled with a single "s".

He currently serves as the Executive chairman of Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Limited (CQCIL). CQCIL is the only company in Sub-Saharan Africa, that is authorized to manufacture triple-combination anti retro-viral drugs. The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAOU), also known as the Uganda National Petroleum Authority, is governmental organisation that regulates the petroleum industry in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community. Its responsibilities include licensing, regulation, supervision of exploration, harvesting, refining, marketing, and disposal of petroleum products in the country. Although owned by the Ugandan government, it is expected to act independently.

Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, is a Ugandan businesswoman and politician. She is currently the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs in the Cabinet of Uganda. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. She is also the Federation of Uganda Football Associations third Vice-President, the first woman to hold that position in Uganda. As well serves as the Chairperson Commonwealth Youth Ministers Task force voted to that position in 2017.

Mary Goretti Kitutu, also Mary Goretti Kitutu Kimono is a Ugandan academic, politician and environmentalist. She is the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, in the Ugandan Cabinet, effective 14 December 2019. Before that, from 10 June 2016, until 14 December 2019, she served as the State Minister for the Environment in the Cabinet of Uganda. Dr Mary Kitutu concurrently serves as the elected Manafwa District Women's Representative, in the 10th Parliament.

Jack Sabiiti Ugandan lecturer, public administrator and politician

Jack Crissy Sabiiti is a Ugandan lecturer, public administrator and politician. He is the former Member of Parliament for Rukiga County, Kigezi sub-region and a founding member of FDC, the main opposition party in Uganda. He was the first treasurer general of FDC and now serves as the party's treasurer for Kabale District.

Catherine Amusugut is a Ugandan geologist and corporate executive, who serves as a Geoscience Manager at the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), since August 2017. Before that, from January 2007 until August 2017, she served as a Geologist at the Petroleum Exploration and Production Department (PEPD), in the Uganda Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

Keturah Kitariisibwa Katunguka,, also Ketrah Katunguka, is a Ugandan lawyer and judge who serves as a justice of the High Court of Uganda, since 11 March 2016.

Sarah Langa Siu is a Ugandan lawyer. She is the Chief Registrar of the Uganda Judiciary. As the chief registrar, she supervises a team of registrars to assist the Principal Judge in administering the magistrates courts in the country. She was appointed to that position on 14 August 2020. The Chief Registrar is also the spokesperson of the Uganda Judiciary.

Aminah Zawedde, is a Ugandan computer scientist. academic and public administrator, who serves as the permanent secretary of the Uganda Ministry of ICT and National Guidance since 15 July 2021. Before that Zawedde was a lecturer and researcher in the School of Computing and Informatics Technology at Makerere University, the oldest and largest public university in Uganda.

Amanda Aziidah Ngabirano, is a Ugandan urban planner, urban planning consultant and academic, who serves as a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Architecture & Physical Planning, in the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), at Makerere University, Uganda's oldest and largest public university.
