Jang Hye-ji (born August 7, 1997) is a South Korean curler. She competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics. [1] She also represented Korea at three World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships. [2]

Career

She was born in 1997 in Uiseong, North Gyeongsang Province, and went to the Uiseong Girls' High School, a famous curling high school. Since then, she has been on the Korean National Mixed Doubles Team four times. [3]

In February 2016, she formed Korea's first mixed doubles national team together with Lee Ki-jeong. At the 2016 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, the team made it to the round of 16, where they lost. [4] At the 2017 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, they finished sixth overall. [5]

Jang played in the mixed doubles tournament at the 2018 Winter Olympics with Lee. She was youngest curler in the tournament. On February 8, she played the Finnish team in the first game of the preliminary round and defeated them 9–4, with Finland conceding after 7 ends. [6] In the second game, they played the Chinese team and after being down 6-1 after four ends, rallied to tie the game, only to lose in an extra end. [7] On February 9, in their third game, they lost 3–8 to Norway, but they beat the US 9–1 in their fourth game. [8] On February 10, in their fifth game, they lost to the Olympic Athletes from Russia, and lost their sixth match against Switzerland. In their seventh and final game, they 7–3 to Canada. They would finish the event in fifth place. [9]

Kim Seon-yeong, nicknamed "Sunny", is a South Korean curler. She was the second, but now plays lead on Team Kim Eun-jung. The Kim team represented South Korea at the 2018 Winter Olympics, where they won a silver medal.

Kim Yeong-mi, nicknamed "Pancake", is a South Korean curler. She was the lead, but now is the alternate on Team Kim Eun-jung. The Kim team represented South Korea at the 2018 Winter Olympics, where they won a silver medal.

Lee Ki-jeong is a South Korean curler. He competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics as part of the mixed doubles team with partner Jang Hye-ji. In 2021, he won the 2021 Korean Mixed Doubles Curling Championship with partner Kim Min-ji.

Kim Cho-hi, nicknamed Chocho, is a South Korean curler from Uijeongbu. She was the alternate, but now plays second for Team Kim Eun-jung. The Kim team represented South Korea at the 2018 Winter Olympics, where they won a silver medal.

Yun Ji-hye is a South Korean female taekwondo practitioner. She represented South Korea at the 2018 Asian Games and claimed a bronze medal jointly with Malaysian Yap Khim Wen in the women's individual poomsae event. This also significantly marked the first medal to be received by South Korea during the 2018 Asian Games.

Kim Hye-rin is a South Korean curler from Uijeongbu. She currently plays third on the Chuncheon City Hall curling team, skipped by Ha Seung-youn. Ha Seung-youn is a South Korean curler from Uijeongbu. She is the skip of the Chuncheon City Hall curling team. While playing with Kim Min-ji, she won a silver medal at the 2020 World Junior Curling Championships.

The 2021 Korean Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, Korea's national mixed doubles curling championships, was held July 27 to August 9, 2021 at the Jincheon National Training Centre in Jincheon, South Korea. The winning team will be the Korean National Mixed Doubles Team for the 2021–22 curling season. They will represent South Korea at the Olympic Qualification Event in hopes of reaching the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China and the 2021 World Mixed Doubles Qualification Event, attempting to reach the 2022 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. The championship was held in two rounds.

The 2022 Korean Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, Korea's national mixed doubles curling championship, was held from July 12 to 15 at the Jincheon National Training Centre in Jincheon, South Korea. The winning pair of Kim Ji-yoon and Jeong Byeong-jin became the Korean National Team for the 2022–23 curling season. They represented Korea on home soil at the 2023 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship where they finished in sixteenth with a 3–7 record. Through regional qualifiers, the field was narrowed down from over thirty teams to just fifteen who competed in the national championship. The preliminary round was held in a round robin format which qualified the top team in each of the four pools for the playoff round.
