Janis was voted the seventh-best reissue of 1993 in The Village Voice 's annual Pazz & Jop critics poll. [6] Robert Christgau, the poll's supervisor, called the album "a smart, audiowise set that not only gets Joplin's achievement right but helps us understand it". [7]
