Natalie du Toit OIG MBE is a South African swimmer. She is best known for the gold medals she won at the 2004 Paralympic Games as well as the Commonwealth Games. She was one of two Paralympians to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing; the other being table tennis player Natalia Partyka. Du Toit became the third amputee ever to qualify for the Olympics, where she placed 16th in the 10km swim.
George Louis Eyser was a German-American gymnast who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics, earning six medals in one day, including three gold and two silver medals. Eyser competed with a wooden prosthesis for a left leg, having lost his leg after being run over by a train. Houda Miled is Tunisian judoka. She represented her country in two Summer Olympics: in 2008 in the 78 kg event and in 2012 in the 70 kg event. Miled won a bronze medal at the 2009 World Judo Championships and has been dominant at the African Judo Championships where she has won the gold medal every year between 2005 and 2012 with the exception of the 2009 tournament where she won the bronze.
Adriana Elisabeth "Jannie/Janny" de Groot was a Dutch swimmer. In 1947 and 1950 she won the national titles and became third in the 200 m breaststroke at the European Aquatics Championships. She competed in the same event at the 1948 Summer Olympics and finished fifth in the final won by Dutch teammate Nel van Vliet. Jannie's brother, Daan de Groot (1933–1982), was an Olympic cyclist.
Teja Zupan is a Slovenian swimmer, who specialized in open water marathon. Zupan qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, after placing tenth in the 10 km Marathon Swimming Olympic test event at Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park. Zupan swam in the first-ever women's 10 km open water marathon, against a field of 24 other competitors, including South African amputee swimmer Natalie du Toit, British duo Keri-Anne Payne and Cassandra Patten, and sixteen-year-old American Chloe Sutton. Zupan finished the race in twelfth place, with a total time of 1:59:43.7, sixteen seconds behind winner Larisa Ilchenko of Russia.
Imelda Martínez Gómez is a Mexican swimmer, who specialized in open water marathon. Martinez qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, after placing seventh in the 10 km Marathon Swimming Olympic test event at Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park. Martinez swam in the first-ever women's 10 km open water marathon, against a field of 24 other competitors, including South African amputee swimmer Natalie du Toit, British duo Keri-Anne Payne and Cassandra Patten, and sixteen-year-old American Chloe Sutton. Martinez finished the race in twentieth place, with a time of 2:01:07.9, one minute and forty seconds (1:40) behind winner Larisa Ilchenko of Russia.
Thomas Joubert du Toit is a South African professional rugby union player for the South Africa national team and Bath Rugby in the Gallagher Premiership. His regular position is prop. His nickname is The Tank.
Charl du Toit is a South African former Paralympic sprinter who competed in the T37 class. Du Toit has competed at two Summer Paralympic Games, London 2012 and Rio 2016. At the 2016 Summer Olympics he won gold medals in the 100 metre and 400 metre races, setting a world record in the latter.
John Thomas "Jannie" Gibson is a Rhodesian former boxer. He competed in the men's light middleweight event at the 1964 Summer Olympics, representing Rhodesia. At the 1964 Summer Olympics, he lost in his first fight to Koji Masuda of Japan in the Round of 32.
Anke Jannie Landman is a Dutch short track speed skater. She competed at the 1994 Winter Olympics and the 1998 Winter Olympics.
Jannie Greeff was a South African weightlifter. He competed in the men's middleweight event at the 1956 Summer Olympics.
Christa Steyn, born Christina Maria Schutte, was a composer, pianist and Afrikaans singer. She is best known for her work with Jannie du Toit. Her compositions and arrangements helped establish several artists, including Anneli van Rooyen, Karin Hougaard and Jan de Wet.
