Japji Khaira (born 16 December 1985) is an Australian actress, model and television personality who predominantly works in Punjabi films. [1] She won the 'Miss World Punjaban 2006' title held in Ludhiana, becoming the first non-Indian citizen to win it. [2] She made her acting debut in the 2007 Punjabi film Mitti Wajaan Maardi alongside Harbhajan Mann.

Early life and education

Japji Khaira was on born on 16 December 1985 in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. She belongs to the Jat Sikh family. She moved to Australia with her family at a young age in 1996 and received her education there. Khaira did her Bachelor of Information Technology from University of Technology Sydney.

Personal life

Japji Khaira married actor Jasprem Dhillon, who works in Punjabi films, in 2013. She prefers to keep her family life private.

Career

After winning the title of Miss World Punjaban, Japji Khaira made her debut in the movie Mitti Wajaan Maardi [3] (2007) opposite Harbhajan Maan. She was in Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad in the lead role. She had a cameo role in Dharti (2011). [4] She also appeared in Singh vs Kaur . [5]

In 2014, she played the lead role in the comedy film Ishq Brandy alongside Roshan Prince, Alfaaz and Binnu Dhillon. Several years later, she worked with Harjit Harman in the romantic film Kurmaiyan , which was released in 2018. After this, she worked in Gippy Grewal social drama film Ardaas Karaan . [6]
