Javier Carrasquillo Cruz (born September 20,1964) is a Puerto Rican politician and former mayor of Cidra. He earned a BA in criminal justice from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Carrasquillo is affiliated with the New Progressive Party (PNP) and served as mayor from 2013 to 2021. [1] After losing his seat in the 2020 elections,Carrasquillo went on to work under elected governor Pedro Pierluisi as Auxiliar Secretary of Government. In February 2022,he was also appointed as President of the Special Communities Perpetual Escrow (Fideicomiso Perpetuo para las Comunidades Especiales),which oversees resources for low income communities in the island. Caguas is a city and municipality of Puerto Rico located in the Central Mountain Range of Puerto Rico,south of San Juan and Trujillo Alto,west of Gurabo and San Lorenzo,and east of Aguas Buenas,Cidra,and Cayey. Caguas was founded in 1775. The municipality had a population of 127,244 at the 2020 census.
Sila María Calderón Serra is a Puerto Rican politician,businesswoman,and philanthropist who was the governor of Puerto Rico from 2001 to 2005. She is the first woman elected to that office. Prior to her term as governor,Calderón held various positions in the government of Puerto Rico,including the 12th Secretary of State of Puerto Rico from 1988 to 1989,and Chief of Staff to Governor Rafael Hernández Colón. She was also mayor of San Juan,the capital of Puerto Rico,from 1997 to 2001.

The Puerto Rico Office for Socioeconomic and Community Development is a government agency of Puerto Rico that manages projects to improve and develop "Special Communities of Puerto Rico",. The agency works with other government agencies,as well as with community members,to improve the infrastructure and economic opportunities of marginalized communities. Its original founding was in 2001 with Law 1-2001 passed by Governor Sila María Calderón. The new entity,employing some of the same people it had under a preceding office,is now responsible for "administering disaster funding".
El Rabanal is a small,protected area consisting of 16 acres of critical secondary forest in the municipality of Cidra,Puerto Rico. The forest tract is located in barrio Rabanal,in a 5,438-acre hydrological basin which is home to 21 species of birds,seven out of which are endemic to the region,including the Puerto Rican plain pigeon. This protected area was established through the Asociación de Pequeños Agricultores de Rabanal Inc. (APARI) and the Puerto Rico Conservation Trust in 2002 with the goal of protecting the area from urban development and developing educational programs related to sustainable agriculture and environmental education.
