Wanda J. "Tata" Soler Rosario (born December 18,1971) is a Puerto Rican politician and the current mayor of Barceloneta. Soler is affiliated with the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) and has served as mayor since 2012. [1]
Wanda Soler received a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Psychology at the Sacred Heart University of Puerto Rico. In 2004,she completed a Master's degree in Education,with a major in Counseling, [2] from Bayamón Central University.
Soler worked as an Employment Promoter for the Consortium Dorado-ManatíNorth Central. She was later promoted to Case Handler,and then Deputy Manager. More recently,she has worked as Special Aide for the mayor and finally Director of the Federal Programs Department for the municipality of Barceloneta. She also works as a professor for the American College of Manatí since 2005.
After the arrest of the mayor of Barceloneta,Sol Luis Fontánes,in February 2012,Soler presented her candidacy to fill the vacant seat. She was elected by a group of 24 delegates on March 10,2012. [1] Soler was formally reelected by the citizens at the 2012 general election,receiving 69.22% of the votes. [3] This was the second largest margin of victory for any mayor in that election,which led a newspaper to label her as one of the "most powerful" mayors in the island. [4] In 2016,she was reelected for a second term. [5] In 2020 she was reelected for her third term with 75% of the vote. [6]
Barceloneta is a town and municipality in Puerto Rico located in the north region,bordering the Atlantic Ocean,north of Florida,east of Arecibo,and west of Manatí. Barceloneta is spread over 3 barrios and Barceloneta Pueblo. It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Liza Fernández Rodríguez is a Puerto Rican attorney and politician affiliated with the New Progressive Party (PNP). General elections were held in Puerto Rico on November 3,2020,to elect the officials of the Puerto Rican government who will serve from January 2021 to January 2025,most notably the position of Governor and Resident Commissioner. In addition,there was a non-binding status referendum to ask voters if Puerto Rico should become the 51st state of the Union.

The 2024 Puerto Rican municipal election will be held on November 5,2024,to elect the mayors of the 78 municipalities of Puerto Rico,concurrently with the election of the Governor,the Resident Commissioner,the Senate,the House of Representatives,a Status referendum and a Presidential straw poll. The winners will be elected to a four-year term from January 3,2025,to January 3,2029.
