Jayprad Desai is an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer. He is known for Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba (2024) Kaun Pravin Tambe? (2022), Mukhbir - The Story of a Spy (2022) He made his Directorial debut from Nagrik, a Marathi political drama-thriller in 2015. [1] [2] He is grand nephew of Vasant Desai, a composer. [3]

Career

His first directorial venture Nagrik, a Marathi political drama-thriller, revolves around a struggling middle class journalist won several accolades including Maharashtra State Awards for Best Social Film. It was also selected at multiple prestigious film festivals such as MAMI and IFFI. [4]

He later went on to create ‘Hutatma’ (2019), a historical-fiction thriller web series set against the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement. It was received well by critics as well as audiences and went on to win big at the MA TA Sanman including Best Web Series. [5] [6] [7]

The series is the adaptation of the retired Joint Director of the Intelligence Bureau Maloy Krishna Dhar's novel, Mission to Pakistan: An Intelligence Agent in Pakistan and stars Zain Khan Durrani, Prakash Raj, Adil Hussain, Barkha Bisht, Harsh Chhaya, Satyadeep Mishra, Bijou Thaangjam and Zoya Afroz in the pivotal roles.
