Jefferson College is a public community college in Jefferson County, Missouri, in the city of Hillsboro. As of Fall 2019, Jefferson College enrollment included 4,179 full and part-time college credit students. [1]
The history of Jefferson College began in the spring of 1961 with the passage of Senate Bill Number Seven, presented by Senator Earl Blackwell of Hillsboro, made possible the formation and financing of public junior colleges in Missouri. Several Jefferson County citizens began to recognize the need for a public junior college in their community, they met, organized and petitioned the State Board of Education for the formation of a Junior College District. The Community College District of Jefferson County was voted into existence on April 2, 1963.
Classes were first held at Hillsboro High School in 1964 until the following year (1965) when the college moved to its present 400+ acre campus on Highway 21 near Hillsboro. Jefferson College became the second junior college district in Missouri to be approved. [2]

The Main Campus is located in Jefferson County, with a portion in the city of Hillsboro and most of it in an unincorporated area. [4] This campus is about 30 miles (48 km) south of St. Louis. [5]
It includes the following features: the Library-Administration Building, Career & Technical Education Building, Fine Arts Building, Technology Center (established 1986), Arts and Sciences Building, Arts and Sciences II, Field House, Athletic Fields, Student Center, Area Technical School, and Student Housing [Viking Woods]. JC Online, was formally established in 2010 as the college's virtual campus, providing a full range of classes and e-services to students who prefer this highly popular method of instruction. [6]
Jefferson College Arnold is located in Arnold. This campus is about 5 miles (8.0 km) south of St. Louis. [5]
Jefferson College Arnold was opened in 2007 to expand educational services to those in northern Jefferson County. The 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2) facility is located at 1687 Missouri State Road behind the Arnold Library and Recreation Center.
Jefferson College Imperial is in Imperial, near Arnold and approximately 15 miles (24 km) south of St. Louis. [5]
Jefferson College Imperial opened in 2010. The 20,000 square feet (1,900 m2) building is located at 4400 Jeffco Boulevard and is home to the Law Enforcement Academy, EMT-Paramedic programs.

Jefferson College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I, NJCAA Region XVI and the Missouri Community College Athletic Conference. The college fields teams in men's baseball and soccer, and women's basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball. The teams are known as the Vikings. [7]
Founded in 1991, the Foundation supports the educational opportunities at Jefferson College by hosting events. Proceeds from the events help provide scholarships for students in need of assistance. The Foundation also provides entertainment for members of the community and their families. [8]
Victor the Viking is the mascot of Jefferson College.
Jefferson College Television (JCTV) provides educational opportunities in broadcast journalism.
The Office of Student Development includes a variety of clubs and organizations on campus that provide students the opportunity to participate as members and/or take leadership roles. In addition, students are made aware of volunteer opportunities available within the community. [9]
The Jefferson College Library has a book collection of over 70,000 volumes. The library's collection includes print periodicals, best sellers, graphic novels, DVDs, music CDs, eBooks and audiobooks. The library is also home to the Jefferson County History Center, [10] which serves as an archive for Jefferson County. The history center is used for genealogical research by residents of Jefferson County, Missouri. Jefferson College Library serves as a selective federal depository [11] for Missouri's Third Congressional District through its participation in the Federal Depository Library Program. [12] Many government publications are available in the library in either a paper or an electronic format.
Nashville State Community College is a public community college in Nashville, Tennessee. It is operated by the Tennessee Board of Regents and shares a 109-acre (0.44 km2) campus with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology at Nashville. The Nashville State facilities include 239,000 square feet (22,200 m2) of space for classrooms, labs, offices, student services, and a library. Nashville State offers a wide array of programs and degrees including associate degree and technical certificate studies, university parallel transfer programs to four-year institutions, continuing education, adult education, two Early College High School programs, Dual Enrollment courses, and community service programs.
Hudson Valley Community College is a public community college in Troy, New York. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY). Although about eighty percent of the students are from the Capital District, the remainder are from other parts of New York, other states and from some 30 countries around the world.
Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is a public community college in Salt Lake County, Utah. It is the state's largest two-year college with the most diverse student body. It serves more than 60,000 students on 10 campuses as well as through online classes. The college has a student to faculty ratio of 20:1. Since SLCC is a community college, it focuses on providing associate degrees that students can transfer to any other four-year university in the state to satisfy their first two years of requirements for a bachelor's degree. SLCC has open enrollment and serves the local community, with approximately 95% of the student body considered Utah residents.
Bucks County Community College (Bucks) is a public community college in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1964, Bucks has three campuses and online courses: a main campus in Newtown, an "Upper Bucks" campus in the town of Perkasie, and a "Lower Bucks" campus in the town of Bristol. There are also various satellite facilities located throughout the county. The college offers courses via face-to-face classroom-based instruction, eLearning classes offered completely online, and in hybrid (blended) modes that combine face-to-face instruction with online learning. Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) is a public community college in Louisville, Kentucky. It is part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and the largest college in that system. JCTC was formed on July 1, 2005, by the consolidation of Jefferson Community College and Jefferson Technical College. Jefferson Community College was originally chartered in 1968 and Jefferson Technical College was chartered in 1953. JCTC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Central Carolina Community College is a public community college with campuses in Chatham, Harnett and Lee counties. It is part of the North Carolina Community College System. It offered its first classes in 1961.

Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC) is a public community college in Springfield, Missouri. It was established by Springfield and thirteen surrounding public school districts on April 3, 1990. It has six locations in southern Missouri. Students can earn a one-year certificate, two-year Associate of Applied Science degree (A.A.S.), Associate of Science (A.S) or Associate of Arts degree (A.A.). It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and had a fall 2021 enrollment of 10,506 students.
Camden County College (CCC) is a public community college in Camden County, New Jersey. Camden County College has its main campus in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township, with satellite locations in Camden, Cherry Hill and Sicklerville. The college offers Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs and certificate programs.
Long Beach City College (LBCC) is a public community college in Long Beach, California, United States. It was established in 1927 and is divided into two campuses, the Liberal Arts Campus in Lakewood Village and the Pacific Coast Campus in central Long Beach on Pacific Coast Highway. It is the only college in the Long Beach Community College District.
Missouri Baptist University (MBU) is a private Southern Baptist university in Creve Coeur, Missouri. It is one of three universities of the Missouri Baptist Convention. The main campus is located on a 68-acre site near Creve Coeur and Town and County in West St Louis County, off highway 64-40. There are currently 12 MBU locations including its regional learning centers throughout the St. Louis region and Illinois. The school enrolled 5,309 students in 2019.
Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC) is a public community college in Ashland, Kentucky. It is an open-admissions college and part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. It was founded in 1938 to allow students the opportunity to obtain associate degrees, certificates and diplomas as well as provide vocational and technical training. The courses offered range from Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, business, education, health-related courses, information technology and a range of industrial technology degrees among others.
St. Charles Community College (SCC) is a public community college in St. Charles, Missouri. Established in 1986, SCC's first fall semester in 1987 had an enrollment of 1,547 students. It offers associate degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences, and career-technical fields as well as workforce training and community-based personal and professional development. St. Charles Community College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Elgin Community College (ECC) is a public community college in Elgin, Illinois. It was founded in 1949 as part of Elgin Area School District U46. Community College District 509 was formed 17 years later in 1966, a year after Illinois legislators created the Illinois Community College System. Most of the District is in Kane County with portions in DeKalb, Cook, McHenry, and DuPage. The 360-square-mile (930 km2) District serves 300,000 people, 11,000 businesses, four public school districts, and 15 high schools.
Midland College (MC) is a public community college in Midland, Texas. It was established as an independent junior college in 1972 and held its first classes on campus in 1975. Since that time, the campus has expanded to a 704,752-square-foot (65,473.6 m2) main campus on 224 acres (0.91 km2) in Midland. It also has numerous locations in other parts of Midland and in Fort Stockton, the Pecos County seat.
Northwest–Shoals Community College is a public community college with two campuses in Alabama, one in Phil Campbell and the second in Muscle Shoals. It is intended to serve Colbert County, Franklin County, Lauderdale County, Lawrence County, and portions of Winston County. The school currently has an enrollment of more than 3,200 students.
The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) is a public research university in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Established in 1963, it is the newest of the four universities in the University of Missouri System. Located on the former grounds of Bellerive Country Club, the university's campus stretches into the municipalities of Bellerive, Bel-Nor and Normandy. Additional facilities are located at the former site of Marillac College and at Grand Center, both in St. Louis city.
Mineral Area College is a public community college in Park Hills, Missouri. Students can earn certificates and associate degree. Students can also transfer to four-year institutions to complete bachelor's degree programs or participate in the 2+2 programs offered on campus by Central Methodist University or University of Missouri-St. Louis. The college enrolled 2,640 students in 2019.
Missoula College is the junior college of the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana. The college was founded in 1956 and became part of the University of Montana in 1994. It offers 35 programs including career, transfer, and technical programs. The five academic departments include the Department of Applied Computing and Electronics, Department of Industrial Technology, Department of Applied Arts and Sciences, Department of Business Technology, and Department of Health Professions. The college also provides workforce development for the region as well as dual credit courses for hundreds of high school students in the area, and works to support adults seeking new career opportunities or professional development. During the Fall 2010 semester, 2,444 students were enrolled at Missoula College.
