Jerod Elton Tufte [1] (born April 9,1975) is an American lawyer and jurist who has served as a justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court since 2017. He previously served as state's attorney for Kidder County,counsel for Governor Jack Dalrymple,and district judge.
Tufte was born in Minot,North Dakota. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 1997 and the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law in 2002. [1]
Prior to law school,Tufte was a computer engineer for Motorola. After graduating from law school,he was a law clerk to Judge Roger Leland Wollman of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit from 2002 to 2003. He worked private practice in Phoenix,Arizona and Steele,North Dakota. [1] He served as Kidder County State's Attorney for from 2005 to 2011 and Sheridan County State's Attorney in 2011. [2] He was a JAG Corps officer for the North Dakota Army National Guard from 2008 to 2016. He was legal counsel to Governor Jack Dalrymple from 2011 to 2014. [1]
In 2014,Governor Dalrymple appointed Tufte district judge of the Southeast Judicial District. [3] He served as district judge chambered at the Barnes County Courthouse in Valley City from 2014 to 2016. [2] He was elected to the Supreme Court in 2016 and took office January 1,2017. [1]

Alvin C. Strutz was an American lawyer,politician,and judge. He served as the North Dakota attorney general from 1937 to 1944 and ran for governor of North Dakota in 1944. He served as chief justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court in 1967 and from 1971 to 1973,and as a justice of the court from 1959 through 1974. He died while serving on the court at the age of 70 in 1973 after serving for 14 years.
Lisa K. Fair McEvers is a North Dakota lawyer and jurist who serves as a justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court since 2014. She previously served as Commissioner of the North Dakota Department of Labor from 2005 to 2010 and district judge from 2010 to 2014.
Drew Howard Wrigley is an American attorney,lawyer,and politician from North Dakota. Wrigley currently serves as the attorney general of North Dakota. He declared his candidacy for the office in early January 2022. Weeks later,then-incumbent Wayne Stenehjem passed away unexpectedly,and Governor Doug Burgum appointed Wrigley to serve the final year of that term. Wrigley was elected to a four-year term in November 2022,garnering 71% of the vote. Wrigley previously served as the United States Attorney for the District of North Dakota from 2001 to 2009 and again from 2019 to 2021,appointed by President George W. Bush and Donald Trump,respectively. Between his terms as United States attorney,Wrigley served as the 37th lieutenant governor of North Dakota from 2010 to 2016.
James Emanuel "Jeb" Boasberg is an American lawyer who is the chief judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. He served as the presiding judge of the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court from 2020 to 2021 and is a former associate judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
