Jessica Davis Savner [1] (born January 31, 1992) is an American modern pentathlete. She qualified to represent the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Davis was born on January 31, 1992, and grew up in Bethlehem, Connecticut. [2] Her father was a triathlete and her mother an equestrian. [3] She attended Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury and competed for the track and field team, specializing in the pole vault. [4] She graduated in 2010 and then attended Central Connecticut State University, where she continued to compete in track and field. [4] She was a member of the Central Connecticut State team for two seasons and set records in the indoor and outdoor pole vault, both of which still stood as of 2024. [5] In 2012, she helped her team finish fifth at the Northeast Conference (NEC) outdoor championships, while placing sixth in the individual NEC indoor championships. [6]
Davis graduated from Central Connecticut State with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. [3] After she graduated, she competed in triathlon events for a time before being introduced by former Olympian Suzanne Paxton to modern pentathlon – a sport consisting of five parts: running, swimming, equestrian, shooting and fencing. [7] She joined the New York Athletic Club and within a year was entered in the Modern Pentathlon World Cup. [7] She competed at the World Modern Pentathlon Championships for the first time in 2016, and by 2023, had participated six times as an individual, three times on the women's team and twice on the mixed team. Davis won a gold medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in the women's relay, paired with Samantha Achterberg. [9] She won the U.S. modern pentathlon national championship in 2023 and also won that year's Division 1A U.S. épée fencing national championship. [2] [5] [10] She also competed at the 2023 Pan American Games, winning a bronze medal in the mixed relay with Brendan Anderson and placing fourth in the individual event: the latter result qualified her for the 2024 Summer Olympics as the only American representative in modern pentathlon in Paris. The modern pentathlon is an Olympic multisport that currently consists of fencing, freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping, laser pistol shooting, and cross country running. Equestrian will be replaced by a form of obstacle course racing at the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Victoria Anatoliïvna Tereshchuk is a female former modern pentathlete from Ukraine. A competitor since 1999 she was awarded a bronze medal in the women's modern pentathlon event at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing but was subsequently stripped of the medal after a doping re-test. She was World Champion in the individual and mixed relay events in 2011. For her World Championship victories, she was named Ukrainian Sportswoman of the Year and received the Order of Princess Olga in the Second Class. She is also the 2008 European Champion and competed at the 2004 and 2012 Olympic modern pentathlon tournaments, where she finished seventh and twenty-third respectively.
The Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne, commonly known by the acronym UIPM, has been the international governing body of modern pentathlon since its foundation in London in 1948. Its headquarters are in Monte-Carlo, Monaco, and it has 115 national federation members in 2018 and 133 members in 2024. Modern pentathlon was introduced at the fifth Olympiad in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1912, comprising the contemporary sports of pistol shooting, fencing, swimming, horse riding and running, which embraced the spirit of its ancient counterpart.

Margaux Isaksen is a modern pentathlete from the United States who competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She placed 4th at the London Olympics after coming from behind but missed a medal.
Mhairi Spence is a British modern pentathlete. She has won a series of medals at European and World Championships, but was not selected for the 2008 Summer Olympics by the British team due to the limited number of places available. After considering retiring in 2009, she returned to the sport and in 2012 she won gold medals in both the individual and the team events at the 2012 World Championships, and qualified to be chosen for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Monica Pinette is a two-time Olympic modern pentathlete from Canada. She is one of the first female Canadian modern pentathletes, and the only indigenous athlete of (Métis) to compete at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Her 13th-place finish overall at the 2004 Summer Olympics was Canada's best recorded performance in the modern pentathlon to date.
Kara Grant is a two-time Olympic modern pentathlete from Canada. She is one of the first female Canadian modern pentathletes, along with Monica Pinette, to compete at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
Peter Samuel Konrad Sacksen is an American modern pentathlete from Somerset, Pennsylvania. He is currently ranked no. 56 in the world by the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM).
Leila Gyenesei is a Hungarian modern pentathlete and cross-country skier. She is a five-time medalist at the World Championships, and is currently ranked no. 19 in the world by the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM). She is also the daughter of István Gyenesei, former Minister of Local Government and chairman of the Association for Somogy party.
Katherine Elizabeth French is a British modern pentathlete who won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Charles Fernandez is a Guatemalan modern pentathlete. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's event and finished fifteenth. Fernandez won the men's modern pentathlon at the 2015 Pan American Games. He also won a gold medal at the World Junior Championships. Fernandez has competed in three World Modern Pentathlon Championships as well as multiple youth and junior world championships and a Central American and Caribbean Games.

Samantha "Sammy"Schultz is an American modern pentathlete. She won the silver medal in the women's individual event at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru. Achterberg and Jessica Davis also won the gold medal in the women's relay event.
Joanna Muir is a British modern pentathlete, who was part of the British squad that won the team event at the 2019 European Modern Pentathlon Championships, and came second in the women's relay event at the 2016 World Modern Pentathlon Championships. She came second at the opening event of the 2021 Modern Pentathlon World Cup. Muir competed in the modern pentathlon event at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics.
The modern pentathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris took place during 8 to 11 August 2024 at the Palace of Versailles and the Arena Paris Nord. The Palace of Versailles hosted all the modern pentathlon events, with the only exclusion being the fencing ranking rounds, which occurred at the North Paris Arena. Two events were contested, one for men and another for women.
Modern pentathlon competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile were held between October 21 and 27, 2023 at the Las Condes Military School.
Kerenza Bryson is a British modern pentathlete. She won a bronze medal in the women's individual event at the 2023 World Modern Pentathlon Championships and silver in the team competition. Bryson won gold in the individual event at the 2024 European Modern Pentathlon Championships. She also represented Great Britain at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Malak Ismail is an Egyptian modern pentathlete. She was a gold medalist at the 2023 World Modern Pentathlon Championships and competed at the 2024 Olympic Games.
