Jessica Phoenix (born October 16, 1983 in Uxbridge, Ontario) is a Canadian Equestrian Team athlete in eventing.

Career

Phoenix won a gold medal in the individual eventing competition at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara. She also won a silver medal as part of the team eventing competition. [1]

Phoenix made her Olympic debut at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, finishing 22nd in individual eventing. [2]

Phoenix competed at her third Pan American Games in 2015. Once again she returned home with two medals, an individual silver and a team bronze. She rode a Westphalian gelding Pavarotti.

In July 2016, she was named to Canada's Olympic team. [3] At the Games held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Phoenix placed 10th in the team competition and finished 38th individually, collecting 131.60 penalties across the three stages with A Little Romance.

She won gold at the IAAF World Cup in 1979 and at the 1982 Commonwealth Games. She has held the Canadian high jump record since 1969, and set the current record of 1.99 meters in 1982, a few months after giving birth to her first child.

Zelinka won silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and repeated her silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. At the 2012 Summer Olympics Zelinka finished in 6th overall in the heptathlon and 7th in the 100 m hurdles.

Sultana Frizell is a Canadian track and field athlete competing in the hammer throw. Frizell currently trains under the guidance of Derek Evely in Kamloops, British Columbia. She competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Frizell is the former Commonwealth Games champion in the hammer throw and Commonwealth Games record holder for the event as well.

Catharine Pendrel is a Canadian cross-country mountain biker from Harvey Station, New Brunswick. A member of the Canadian National team since 2004, Pendrel was the world champion in cross-country mountain biking in 2011 and 2014 and the 2007 Pan American Games champion. She is also the current reigning Commonwealth Games champion when she won gold in Glasgow.
