Joseph S. Wineke (born January 5,1957) is an American politician. He was chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin from 2005 through 2009. During his term as chair,he saw the Democrats gain full control of Wisconsin's executive and legislative branches for the first time since 1986. Before becoming party chair,he served ten years in the Wisconsin State Assembly and six years in the Wisconsin State Senate,representing suburban areas of Dane,Green,and Rock counties.
Wineke graduated from Verona Area High School in 1975. [1] He graduated with a B.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1980. He served on the Verona City Council from 1980 to 1983. He was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly and served from 1983 to 1993,when he was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate in the April 1993 special election. Wineke was reelected in 1994. [2]
In 1998,Wineke ran for the open seat being vacated by United States Representative Scott Klug in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was defeated in the Democratic primary,receiving 27 percent of the vote. Tammy Baldwin won both the primary and general election.
Wineke was elected the chairperson of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin in 2005. He served the limit of two terms,and was succeeded by Mike Tate,who was elected in June 2009. He went on to serve as the Executive Director of the Construction Labor-Management Council of Greater Wisconsin Inc. The Council was created in 1990 as a joint effort between building trades unions and contractors to promote a better construction industry. [3] Wineke currently serves as the Administrator of the State of Wisconsin Division of Compensation and Labor Relations. [4]
Wineke was born in Madison and raised in Verona,Wisconsin. He and his wife,Debora,have three children,Scott,Brian,and Jessica.
Timothy W. Carpenter is an American Democratic politician from Milwaukee,Wisconsin. He has been a member of the Wisconsin Senate for more than 20 years,representing the Wisconsin's 3rd Senate district since 2003. His district comprises much of the south side of the city of Milwaukee. He previously served 18 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly (1985–2003).

The 2018 Wisconsin gubernatorial election took place on November 6,2018. It occurred concurrently with a Senate election in the state,elections to the state's U.S. House seats,and various other elections. Incumbent Republican governor Scott Walker sought re-election to a third term,and was challenged by Democratic candidate and then-Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Evers,as well as Libertarian Phil Anderson and independent Maggie Turnbull. Evers,along with his running mate Mandela Barnes,managed to defeat Walker and Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch in a closely fought and widely watched race,ending the state's Republican trifecta.
The 2022 United States Senate election in Wisconsin was held on November 8,2022,to elect a member of the United States Senate from Wisconsin. The party primaries were held on August 9,2022. Incumbent Republican Senator Ron Johnson won election to a third term,defeating Democratic Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes by 26,718 votes—a one-point margin of victory.
The 79th Assembly district of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in south-central Wisconsin,the district is entirely contained within the city of Madison,in central Dane County. The district comprises much of the west side of the city of Madison. The district is represented by Democrat Alex Joers,since January 2023. After the 2024 redistricting,Joers no longer resides in the new 79th district.
Nonpartisan elections are currently held every four years to elect the mayor of Madison,Wisconsin.
Michael Andrew "Mike" Bare is an American policy analyst and Democratic politician from Verona,Wisconsin. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly,representing Wisconsin's 80th Assembly district since January 2023. He is also currently a member of the Dane County board of supervisors and previously served as a legislative aide to United States senator Russ Feingold.
