John Brenner (born January 4, 1961) is a retired shot putter from the United States. He was the 1986 and 1987 United States champion in the shot put. [1]

Brenner competed collegiately for UCLA. He won the 1984 NCAA Championship in both the shot put and the discus throw. That year he set the collegiate championship record in the shot put at 21.92 m (71 ft 10+34 in) that lasted 11 years [2] until it was surpassed by John Godina, also from UCLA, which is the current record.

With a personal best of 22.52 m (73 ft 10+12 in) from the 1987 Mt. SAC Relays, as of June 2013, Brenner ranks as the ninth-best shot putter of all time. [3]

Tia Ra'shone Brooks is an American shot putter. In 2011, she placed second in the shot put at both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships. In 2012, she won both events before competing at the US Olympic Trials. At the Trials, she placed third in the shot put and qualified to represent the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She placed 19th at the Olympics. Also in 2012, she was a Bowerman Award semifinalist.

Lynn Graham is an American former track and field athlete who specialized in the shot put. Graham was the Pan American Games gold medalist in 1971. She won six national titles in the shot put and one in the discus. Her lifetime personal record is 16.18 m, set in Garden Grove, California on May 28, 1971.

Felisha Nayomie Johnson is an American track and field athlete who specialises in the shot put. She was the 2015 national indoor champion in the weight throw. She won two NCAA collegiate titles in that event for the Indiana State Sycamores.

Nicholas Scarvelis is an American-born Greek former athlete. He represented Greece at the 2016 Olympics throwing the shot put. Previously he represented the United States at the 2012 World Junior Championships. His sister is Stamatia Skarvelis

Chase Foster Jackson is an American track and field athlete specializing in throwing events. She won the gold medal at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in women’s shot put, which made her the first American woman to win a shot put world title at the World Athletics Championships. She won on the first attempt which, according to Olympic historian Bill Mallon, made her the first woman’s shot put world champion to win on the first attempt.

Arturo "Art" Venegas is a former track and field coach, specializing in the throwing events. During his coaching career, Venegas led 63 athletes to conference titles, and he coached 33 throwers to NCAA championships. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) said that he "left an indelible mark on the sport of track & field for over 40 years".
