John Government Higher Secondary School is a school in Viswema in the Indian state of Nagaland providing both high school and higher secondary school education. [1] The school is the third oldest school in Nagaland. [2]

John Government Higher Secondary School was established in 5 March 1945 by John Angami and is located in Viswema, Kohima District of Nagaland. [3] [4] The school consists of grades from 6 to 12 and doesn't have an attached pre-primary section. The school library has over 800 books. [5]

The Viswema Hall is currently under-construction at the site of the school. [6] [7]

Tuensang is a town located in the north-eastern part of the Indian state of Nagaland. It is the headquarters of the Tuensang District and has a population of 36,774. The town was founded in 1947 for the purpose of administrating the erstwhile North Eastern Frontier Agency (NEFA) that comprised the present day Districts of Tuensang, Mon, Longleng, Kiphire, Noklak and Shamator. Today, these six districts combined are also known as 'Eastern Nagaland'.

Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) are prestigious centrally funded technical institutes(Research Institutes) in India. The institutes were established by the Government of India through the Ministry of Education to provide collegiate education in basic sciences coupled with research at the undergraduate level. The institutes were formally established by the Parliament of India through the National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research (Amendment) Act, 2010. Seven IISERs have been established across the country, namely IISER Kolkata in West Bengal, IISER Pune in Maharashtra, IISER Mohali in Punjab, IISER Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, IISER Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, IISER Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, and IISER Berhampur in Odisha. All IISERs were declared as Institutes of National Importance by the Parliament of India in 2012, to promote them as leading institutions in the country in the field of basic sciences along with its sister institutes like Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The financial outlay for each IISER is around 5 billion (US$63 million) for the first five years of establishment.
