John William Norman (born 22 August 1936) is an English retired dentist and former first-class cricketer.
Born at Maidstone,Norman was educated at Downside School,before moving to Millfield School in September 1954 in order to improve his chances of entering the University of Cambridge to study medicine. [1] He played rugby union at Millfield as a scrum-half,a position he had played in for three years at Downside. [1] He succeeded in entering Cambridge University,where he graduated from as a dentist in 1956. [1] While at Cambridge he played two first-class cricket matches as a wicket-keeper for Cambridge University Cricket Club in 1957,against Kent and Middlesex. [2] He later played a Minor Counties Championship match for Berkshire in 1966. [3]

Norman Michael McVicker was an English cricketer. Having failed to establish himself with either Lancashire or Derbyshire,where he had trialled,McVicker initially played county cricket at minor counties cricket level for Lincolnshire. His performances in minor counties cricket were noticed by Warwickshire,who signed him at the age of 28 in 1969. He played five seasons with Warwickshire,winning the 1972 County Championship and taking 300 first-class wickets. He was released by Warwickshire at the end of the 1973 season and subsequently played for Leicestershire for three seasons from 1973–1975,winning both the County Championship and Benson &Hedges Cup in 1975. He retired at the end of the 1976 season,but came out of retirement in 1977 to play one-day cricket for Leicestershire,before retiring again at the end of that season.
