John Ed Parchman (born ca. 1949) is an American football coach. He is the head coach at Cisco Junior College since 2006.

High school coaching career

Parchman coached highly successfully for 20 years in West Texas high school football. As head coach at Frenship High School in Wolfforth, Socorro High School in El Paso, Llano High School in Llano and Lee High School in Midland he amassed a 152-73-1 coaching record.

While at Midland Lee, he compiled an 88-23-1 record in nine years, and led the Rebels with Cedric Benson to three consecutive state championships (1998–2000) in the largest classification. They were the only 5A team in Texas high school football history to “three-peat” until Southlake Carroll High School emulated this feat in 2004-06.

In 1999 Parchman was named National High School Coach of the Year by USA Today . [1]

College coaching career

After head coaching the Midland Lee Rebels he went to head coach Cisco Junior College football. [2] The Cisco Wranglers finished 7-4 in 2005 with a Southwest Junior College Football co-championship and won the Champs Heart of Texas Bowl against Dodge City Community College.

After more than 20 years as a high school head coach, this will be Parchman's first job at the junior college or college level. Parchman, who said he played at Cisco, said the focus of his recruiting will be on West Texas players.

"These kids all have a story and they are all chasing that dream," Parchman said. "I played at Cisco and I emphathise and understand these guys. We are excited about this and we want to do it right. It's in West Texas and I didn't have to leave home."

Friday Night Lights is a 2004 American sports drama film co-written and directed by Peter Berg. The film follows the coach and players of a high school football team in the Texas city of Odessa, which supported the team and was obsessed with them. The book on which it is based, Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream (1990) by H. G. Bissinger, followed the story of the 1988 Permian High School Panthers football team as they made a run towards the state championship. A television series of the same name premiered on October 3, 2006 on NBC. The film won the Best Sports Movie ESPY Award and was ranked number 37 on Entertainment Weekly's list of the Best High School Movies.

Jerry Tarkanian American basketball coach (1930–2015)

Jerry Tarkanian was an American basketball coach. He coached college basketball for 31 seasons over five decades at three schools. He spent the majority of his career coaching with the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, leading them four times to the Final Four of the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, winning the national championship in 1990. Tarkanian revolutionized the college game at UNLV, utilizing a pressing defense to fuel its fast-paced offense. Overall, he won over 700 games in his college coaching career, only twice failing to win 20 games, while never having a losing season. Tarkanian was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.

Kurt Charles "K. C." Keeler is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the Head Football Coach at Sam Houston State University. He was the head football coach at the University of Delaware from 2002 to 2012. Keeler served as the head football coach at Rowan University from 1993 to 2001. His 2003 Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens squad won the NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship, and returned to the Division I Championship game in 2007 and 2010. Keeler is currently the 44th winningest coach in the history of college football. In Keeler's 26 years as a head football coach he has won 233 games. He has taken 15 teams to the NCAA playoffs with 13 of his teams reaching the Final Four and 8 of his teams reaching the National Championship game. In 2010 he won both the AFCA and Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year and in 2016 he was awarded the Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year. In 2019, an ESPN Blue Ribbon Panel selected Keeler as one of the 150 greatest coaches in college football history.

R. C. Slocum American football coach and former tight end

Richard Copeland "R. C." Slocum, is a former American football player and coach. He served as the interim athletic director at Texas A&M University from January through June 2019, and previously served as the head football coach there from 1989 to 2002. He has won more games as coach (123) than anyone else in Texas A&M Aggies football history. Slocum was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2012.

John Howard Vaught was an American college football player, coach, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at the University of Mississippi from 1947 to 1970 and again in 1973.

Gary Gaines is a former American football coach. Gaines was the head coach of the 1988 Permian High School football team, which was the focus of the H. G. Bissinger book Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team and a Dream and the 2004 motion picture Friday Night Lights starring Billy Bob Thornton. His coaching career spanned four decades, coaching at eight high schools and two colleges, all in Texas.

Roy Lester American football player

E. Roy Lester was an American college and high school football coach. After a successful career at the high school level, he served as the head coach of the University of Maryland football team from 1969 to 1971. Lester was the school's fourth head coach in five years, and compiled a 7–25 record during his tenure. He was fired after the 1971 season when Maryland finished at the bottom of the Atlantic Coast Conference for the second consecutive year.

In 2013, a dispute concerning the disposition of Oklahoma's share of the game's charitable proceeds led the Oklahoma Coaches Association to withdraw from the game, and the 2013 game matched two Texas teams. For the years in which Texas and Oklahoma teams played, the overall record was 46-19-1 in favor of Texas.

North Texas Mean Green football College football organization

The North Texas Mean Green football program is the intercollegiate team that represents the University of North Texas in the sport of American football. The Mean Green compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the West Division of Conference USA (CUSA). They are coached by Seth Littrell, who has served in that position since 2016. North Texas has produced 24 conference championship titles, with twelve postseason bowl appearances and four appearances in the former I-AA Playoffs. James D. Acree was a high school football coach. He is particularly known for his years at Corsicana High School in Corsicana, Texas, where he won a 3-A state championship in 1963, and at Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas, where he coached from 1970 to 1977. He also had a short stint as assistant coach at Texas Tech University under head coach J. T. King.

Larry Fedora American football coach

Herbert Lawrence Fedora is an American football coach and former player who most recently served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Baylor University. Baylor released Fedora from his offensive coaching duties on Dec. 22nd, 2020. He previously served as the head coach at the University of Southern Mississippi from 2008 to 2011 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2012 to 2018.

John Richard Symank was an American college and professional football player who was a defensive back in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons during the 1950s and 1960s. Symank played college football for the University of Florida, and thereafter, he played professionally for the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Cardinals of the NFL. He was later the head coach for Northern Arizona University and the University of Texas at Arlington football teams.

Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream is a 1990 non-fiction book written by H. G. Bissinger. The book follows the story of the 1988 Permian High School Panthers football team from Odessa, Texas, as they made a run towards the Texas state championship. While originally intended to be a Hoosiers-type chronicle of high school sports holding together a small town, the book ended up being critical of life in the town of Odessa. It was later adapted for television and film.

Robert Leon Fuller is a former American football coach. He served as head coach of the Colorado State college football program from 1982 to 1988. Fuller also served as defensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns and is regarded as “one of the best defensive coaches the University of Texas ever had.”

Jack Siedlecki

Jack "Sid" Siedlecki is an American football coach. He was a head coach in college football for 21 years for Worcester Polytechnic Institute (1988–1992), Amherst College (1993–1996) and Yale University (1997–2008). He led his teams to championships in the Ivy League, the Freedom Football Conference, and the New England Small College Athletic Conference. He was selected as the American Football Coaches Association District I Coach of the Year after the 2006 season.

Elijah Lee American football linebacker

Elijah James Lee is an American football linebacker for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Kansas State, and was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round in the 2017 NFL Draft.
