John Roth is an American guitarist, best known for his work with the rock bands Winger, [1] Black Oak Arkansas, [2] and Giant. He has been touring and recording with national acts since the mid-1980s.
Roth got his start at the age of 17 with Medieval Steel on the band's self-titled debut EP as well as in the music video for the title track. He was asked by Jim Dandy, lead vocalist of Black Oak Arkansas, to join his band as lead guitarist in 1986.
After touring the U.S. and Canada with Black Oak in the mid-1980s, Roth joined forces with Survivor's lead vocalist Jimi Jamison in 1989 to record Jamison's first solo release When Love Comes Down. The first single, "Rock Hard", co-written by Roth, was featured on the hit television series Baywatch .
After touring with Jamison in the early 1990s, Roth joined Winger in 1993 for a tour of the U.S. and Japan in support of the band's third record, Pull , as well as appearing in the band's videos "Down Incognito" and "Who's The One".
Since the 1990s, Roth has continued to tour and record with Winger on a number of projects including The Very Best of Winger , Winger IV , and the Winger Live concert DVD in 2009. The band released their 5th studio effort Karma , and by fall of 2010 has completed a tour of 19 countries supporting the release. Most recently the band has released their 6th studio album "Better Days Comin" (2014) and will tour in support of. In the mid 90's and 2000's Roth performed live in the Memphis Mid South area with Scott Trammell (Jimi Jamison, Nelson Brothers) Kory Myers (Tom Keifer Band) and Ted Partin as the music group Tom, Dick and Harry.
In 2009, Roth joined melodic rock band Giant as lead guitarist to record their fourth studio album Promise Land. It was released on February 26 in Europe and March 9 in the US.\
In 2011, Roth joined premier Memphis Band 5th Kind, along with Kory Myers (Tom Keifer Band), Jeff Adams (Starship), Kary Baddour, and Pete Mendillo to perform in the Memphis Mid South area.
In 2012, Roth joined Starship featuring Mickey Thomas as their lead guitarist.
Winger is an American rock band formed in New York City, New York in 1987. Winger gained popularity during the late 1980s and early 1990s with two platinum albums, Winger and In the Heart of the Young, along with charting singles "Seventeen", "Headed for a Heartbreak" and "Miles Away". In 1990, the band was nominated for an American Music Award for "Best New Heavy Metal Band". As the music scene changed in the early to mid-1990s due to the popularity of grunge, their success faded following their third release, 1993's Pull. Winger disbanded less than a year later in 1994.

Starship is an American rock band from San Francisco, California. Initially a continuation of Jefferson Starship, it underwent a change in musical direction, the subsequent loss of personnel, and a lawsuit settlement that led to a name change. Starship's 1985 album, Knee Deep in the Hoopla, was certified platinum by the RIAA, and included two singles that went to number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart: "We Built This City" and "Sara". Their follow up album, No Protection, released in 1987, was certified gold and featured the band's third number one single, "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". Jimmy Wayne Jamison was an American singer. Best known as Jimi Jamison, he earned recognition as the frontman for the rock bands Target, Cobra, and Survivor from 1984 to 1989, performing the songs "Burning Heart" from the film Rocky IV, "The Moment of Truth" from The Karate Kid, along with other top-20 Survivor hits "I Can't Hold Back", "High On You", "The Search Is Over" and "Is This Love". He officially rejoined Survivor in 2000, remaining in the group until 2006, and rejoined again in 2011. Acclaimed for his vocal abilities, Jamison is also known for having co-written and performed the theme song "I'm Always Here" for the 1990s TV series Baywatch.

Having formed in 1982, the band released an album the following year that led to tours supporting acts like Quiet Riot and Nazareth. They are perhaps best known for several musicians who later joined more prominent bands, including future Survivor singer Jimi Jamison and Krokus guitarist Mandy Meyer. Cobra went their separate ways in 1984.
Target was a Southern rock band from Memphis, Tennessee, that formed in the early 1970s. The band consisted of singer Jimi Jamison, guitarists Buddy Davis and Paul Cannon, Tommy Cathey on bass, and drummer David Spain. The group released a pair of albums for A&M Records with 3 singles. A third album was recorded in 1979, entitled In Range before the band split in 1982.
