John Sellars,is an American academic administrator. He was named president of Graceland University in May 2007,serving until 2017. He previously served as the fifteenth President of Drury University for two years,and a senior vice president for institutional advancement at Syracuse University.
Sellars was born and raised in Independence,Missouri and received his bachelor's degree from University of Central Missouri. He continued his education at the University of Missouri–Kansas City,where he received a master's degree in public administration in 1986 and a Ph.D. in 1992.[ citation needed ] His post-graduate studies include the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University and the Strategic Planning and Higher Education Marketing program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.[ citation needed ]
In 2005,Sellars became the 15th president of Drury University,though his tenure ended abruptly after he announced the school was millions of dollars in debt,initiated a re-examination of the university's mission,and appeared to squelch academic freedom following a controversial interview by a faculty member. [1] On April 23,2007,facing a likely vote of no confidence from the faculty,Sellars resigned. [2] [3]
One month later,on May 24,2007,Sellars was named president of Graceland University in Lamoni,Iowa,effective July 15. [4] In 2016,the university announced that Sellars would retire in July,2017. [5] He was succeeded by Patricia Draves,who formerly served as vice president for academic affairs and dean of the University of Mount Union in Alliance,Ohio. [6]

Roy A. Cheville was a religious leader,theologian and educator in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,which became Community of Christ in 2001. Cheville graduated from Graceland University in 1921 with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in liberal arts and religious education. In 1926,he authored Graceland's Alma Mater Hymn while on the faculty. He obtained his Ph. B. in 1922,an A.M in Divinity in 1923,a D.B. in Practical Theology in 1925,and later a Ph.D. in religion in 1942,all from the University of Chicago. He was the first member of his denomination to complete a doctoral level religious education.
Ako Abdul-Samad is the Iowa State Representative from the 34th District. He has served in the Iowa House of Representatives since 2007. Previously,he was a member of the Des Moines school board. Abdul-Samad was born,raised,and resides in Des Moines.
Ben "Todd" Parnell III is retired president of Drury University in Springfield,Missouri,co-founder and the retired CEO of THE BANK in Springfield,a community activist,an environmental advocate,an author,and keynote speaker. Parnell was sworn in as interim president at a faculty/staff meeting in Clara Thompson Hall on April 23,2007,upon the resignation of John Sellars,Drury's fifteenth president. After a number of options were considered for the office,Parnell was formally inaugurated as Drury University's sixteenth president on April 20,2008,by Drury's trustee-driven search committee. Parnell retired in 2013,serving his last day as president on May 31,2013.
R. Barbara Gitenstein was the president of The College of New Jersey. She holds a bachelor's degree in English from Duke University ('70) and a Ph.D. in English and American literature from UNC in 1975. Gitenstein was born in Florala,Alabama,a town of 2,000 where hers was one of the few Jewish families. She attended Holton-Arms School,an all-woman's high school. On July 11,2017,Gitenstein announced she would retire at the end of the 2017-2018 academic year.

David Lee Clinefelter is an American teacher and academic administrator who served as president of Graceland University. He is dean of student affairs at the University of the People. Clinefelter was previously superintendent of Lamoni Community School District,provost of Kaplan University,and chief academic officer of Walden University.
