Kazi Jahangir Kabir (born 10 July 1979), known mononymously as Jon Kabir, [1] is a Bangladeshi singer, composer, actor, and model. Currently he is the lead vocalist of the rock band Indalo. He is the founder and former frontman of the grunge and alternative rock band Black. [2]
In the late 1990s, Jon and two of his friends Mushfeque Jahan and Tony Vincent who attended Willes Little Flower School and St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, started to jam at each other's houses. [3] They would listen to music through cassettes of bands like Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden who were later influences in their music. In 1997 Jon co-founded Black with Jahan on guitars, Tony on drums and Jon himself on vocals. Later on countless other members joined like Asif Haque and Tahsan Khan. [4] [2] [5] Together they went on to release 4 studio albums but Kabir rose in prominence after the band's debut album, Amar Prithibi . [2] [6] In 2011, Jon wanted to take a break from music but his other band members didn't, fearing that it might affect financial factors of the band. Jon then left the band after their conflict of interest to take a break from music indefinitely. [2] [7] [8]
After leaving Black, he started to explore music, going to concerts and shows in other countries. He then started to jam with an old friend of his, Hossain. They had similar music taste and would cover their favorite songs. In 2012, Kabir co-founded the rock band Indalo with Bart Nandit Areng, Zubair, and Dio Haque. [4] [6] The band's debut album, Kokhon Kibhabe Ekhane Ke Jane, was released in 2015 with hit tracks such as ISD. [1] [4] [9]
Kabir later started acting following an offer from Mimi Apu. Suborna Mustafa and Humayun Faridi also helped to launch his acting career. [10] However, He has not taken up any acting roles for the past 7 years. He states in an interview that he refuses to act in the same cliche roles but something more intriguing, preferably a cameo. [11]
In 2020, Jon started his own podcast on YouTube called 'I started a Podcast,' where he interviews famous individuals who are experts in their respective fields who share their work and talk about the impact of music in their lives. [12]
When asked about a reunion with his former band Black, in an interview, he states that if he ever does it, it will only be for money and nothing else. [11]
Black is a Bangladeshi alternative rock band formed in 1998 in Dhaka. It was originally formed by Jon Kabir, Mushfeque Jahan, and Tony Vincent (drums). They were soon joined by Mahmudul Karim Miraz, and in 2000, Tahsan Rahman Khan.

Amar Prithibi is the debut studio album by Bangladeshi alternative rock band Black, released in 2002 by G-Series. According to the record label, the album has sold over 300,000 copies. Years later and following the release of further albums, its songs "Amar Prithibi", "Amra", "Obhiman", "Prarthonad", and "Miththa" remained some of Black's most popular compositions with fans, according to journalists at The Daily Star and The Business Standard.

Black is the fourth studio album by Bangladeshi rock band Black. In 2009 Black announced on their official Facebook page that they had started to work on their fourth studio album and it would be a self-titled album. Work on the album properly started after Rafiqul Ahsan Titu (ex-Aashor) joined the band as the permanent bass player after Shahriar Shagor left the band. Black stated, they had plans to release the album on the Eid-ul-Azha of 2010, but due to other commitments of the band members and tight scheduling they were unable to succeed. After a few more changes of speculated release dates the band finally announced the official release date, August 21, 2011. According to the band, the album contains the heaviest possible music they have yet made. The first single off the album was "Aajo...", its music video premiered at YouTube in September 2011.
Kabir Bakul is a Bangladeshi lyricist and journalist. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Lyrics 6 times for the films Megher Kole Rod (2008), Swami Strir Wada (2009), Nisshash Amar Tumi (2010), Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini (2013), Nayok (2018) and Bishwoshundori (2020). As of 2013, he has written about 5000 songs.

The film was the directorial debut of news anchor and prominent media personality Samia Zaman and was produced by Bangladeshi satellite TV channel NTV, their second film production. Bangladeshi heavy metal or Bangla heavy metal was originated from the evolution of British and American heavy metal bands of the 1980s. Bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica and Megadeth have had the greatest influences on Bangladeshi heavy metal musicians. Other 1970s bands to influence are bands like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Motörhead. The first bands to play heavy metal in Bangladesh were bands like Warfaze and Rockstrata. The most prominent era for heavy metal movement was between the early 1990s to early 2000s. Warfaze, Rockstrata, Aces and in Dhaka are often considered as the "big four founders of heavy metal". Other 2000s metal bands are bands like Artcell, Aurthohin, Cryptic Fate, Powersurge, Mechanix, Metal Maze, Vibe and Stentorian. Alternative bands like Nemesis, Arbovirus and Black also played some alternative metal songs over the years. Warfaze, Artcell and Aurthohin together are the most popular rock/metal trio of Bangladesh.
