Lancashire Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. Lancashire's home is Old Trafford Cricket Ground,although the team also play matches at other grounds around the county. Lancashire was a founder member of the County Championship in 1890 and has won the competition nine times. Lancashire has won 26 major honours in its history. The club's limited overs team is called Lancashire Lightning.
Mohamed Farveez Maharoof,or Farveez Maharoof,is a Sri Lankan former professional cricketer,who played Tests and ODIs. He first made his impression in the 2004 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in which he captained the Sri Lankan team. He enjoyed a prolific school career for Wesley College,with a highest score of 243 and best bowling figures of 8 for 20. An all-rounder,he made his Test debut in 2004. He was part of the Sri Lankan team which finished as runners-up at the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
Gary Keedy is a retired English cricketer. A slow-left arm spin bowler,he played one match for Yorkshire in 1994,having graduated from their cricket academy,before moving to Lancashire in 1995. He played for the club until 2012 taking over 500 first-class wickets. Although he had played youth internationals,he never played for the senior England team,although he was named in the squad a few times. In 2011 he was part of the Lancashire squad that won the County Championship for the first time since 1950. Keedy subsequently played one season for Surrey and two for Nottinghamshire before retiring as a professional cricketer in 2015. After studying physiotherapy at the University of Salford,he is currently Nottinghamshire's spin bowling coach and assistant physiotherapist.
Glen Chapple is an English cricket coach and former cricketer. He is an all-rounder,and represented the national team in a One Day International,as well as performing well for Lancashire over many years. He bowled right-arm fast-medium,and is a right-handed batsman. With six first-class centuries to his name,Chapple shares with Mark Pettini the record for fastest first-class century,scored against declaration bowling by Glamorgan in 1993,coming off just 27 balls.
Christopher Charles Benham is an English cricketer. Benham is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm off break. He was born at Frimley,Surrey. He attended Yateley School across the county border at Yateley in Hampshire. Making his debut at the professional level for the Hampshire Cricket Board in 2001,he spent nine years playing for Hampshire,before being released by the county after the 2010 season. He is now playing club cricket for Wimbledon CC in the Surrey Championship Premier League whilst working as a financial planner at St James's Place Wealth Management.
Stephen Colin Moore is a retired English cricketer. Moore is a right-handed opening batsman who played first-class cricket most recently for Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 2014. He previously played for Worcestershire from 2003 until 2009 and Lancashire County Cricket Club from 2009 until 2013. Educated at St Stithians College in Johannesburg and at Exeter University,from which he graduated MEng,Moore is also a keen saxophonist.
Mark James Chilton is an English first-class cricketer. Chilton was educated at Manchester Grammar School and Durham University where he won the British Universities tournament in 1997. The same year he made his debut for Lancashire,aged 20. Chilton has been compared in batting style to fellow Manchester Grammar School student and former Lancashire and England batsman John Crawley.
Kyle William Hogg is an English former cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler who played for Lancashire from 2001 to 2014. Between 2000–01 and 2002 Hogg represented the England under-19s in six youth Tests and 11 One Day Internationals (ODIs). In the 2006–07 season he travelled to New Zealand where he represented Otago as an overseas player. Hogg spent time on loan with Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire,both in 2007.
Adil Usman Rashid is an English cricketer who plays for England in One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket,and previously played for the Test team. In domestic cricket,he represents Yorkshire,and has played in multiple Twenty20 leagues,he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs.2 Crore,in the 2023 Indian Premier League auction. He is regarded as one of the best English spinners of all-time.
Thomas Christopher Smith is a former English cricketer who played for Lancashire County Cricket Club. He had also been a member of the England Academy team. In 2008,he played for Leicestershire on loan because he was unable to break into Lancashire's first team. He is an all-rounder,bowling right-arm medium and batting left-handed. At the start of the 2009 season,Smith was promoted to open the batting,having previously batted in the lower order,and secured his place there. In 2011,the year Lancashire won the County Championship for the first time since 1950,Smith became the first Lancashire player to score a century and take four wickets in the same one-day match. In 2011/12 Smith played for the Matabeleland Tuskers in Zimbabwe as an overseas player in the domestic twenty20 competition.
Stephen David Parry is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm bowler who played for Lancashire County Cricket Club. Parry made his senior debut for Lancashire in 2007 and in 2009 was named Lancashire's Young Player of the Year.
Gareth David Cross is an English cricketer who plays as a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who occasionally bowls right arm medium-fast. He played for Lancashire from 2005 until his release in 2013,and the following year signed for Derbyshire. In 2015 he returned to Clifton as professional having earlier come through their junior ranks.
Paul James Horton is a retired former cricketer who played for Lancashire and Leicestershire in England and Matabeleland Tuskers in Zimbabwe.
Luke Anthony Procter is an English cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler who captains Northamptonshire in first-class cricket.
Simon Christopher Kerrigan is a retired English cricketer who last played for Northamptonshire. He bowled slow left arm orthodox spin. Kerrigan signed for Lancashire in September 2008,and made his debut for the first team in 2010,filling in for Gary Keedy,Lancashire's senior spinner. In August 2011,Kerrigan was selected for the England Lions for the first time. The following month he took the best first-class bowling figures for Lancashire since 1953 and that year Lancashire won the County Championship for the first time since 1950.
Benny Alexander Cameron Howell is an English first-class cricketer. Howell is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium-fast for Hampshire.
Mohammad Junaid Khan is a Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer who played for the Pakistan national cricket team from 2011 to 2019. His cousin,the leg-spinner Yasir Shah,followed his path later. Junaid Khan was a member of the Pakistan team that won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.
Luis Michael Reece is an English cricketer who plays for Derbyshire. He is a left-handed batsman who bowls left-arm medium pace. He previously played for Lancashire before joining Derbyshire ahead of the 2017 season.
The 2011 English cricket season was the 112th in which the County Championship had been an official competition. It began on 2 April with a round of university matches,and continued until the final of the Clydesdale Bank 40 on 17 September. Three major domestic competitions were contested:the 2011 County Championship won by Lancashire,the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40 won by Surrey and the 2011 Friends Life t20 won by Leicestershire.
Brett Alan Hutton is an English cricketer who plays for Nottinghamshire. He is a right-handed batsman and bowls right-arm medium pace.
