Josephine Ejiroghene Oniyama (born 1983 in Manchester) [1] is an English singer-songwriter. She has released three albums and a number of singles. [2]
Living in the Manchester suburb of Hulme, Oniyama grew up in a colourful West African culture [3] combined with the large musical heritage of Manchester, [4] which shaped her style. [3] She was playing gigs by the age of 15. [3] During her college years she was further influenced by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Bob Marley. [3] She has Jamaican and Nigerian roots that are reflected in her songs, which cover genres from gospel and country to soul music.
In 2002 Oniyama released her debut album A SMALLER VERSION OF THE REAL THING via Storm music Ltd.Steve Long/Dewsbury. a champion of Oniyama's music sent out copies to Radio stations throughout the UK on the premise she was the 21st century Odetta, 10 years later in 2012 Oniyama released her second album Portrait which was produced by Leo Abrahams. [3] [5] The album also features co-writes with Jimmy Hogarth and Ed Harcourt. [3] The album was preceded by singles "What a Day" and "Original Love" (A-listed on BBC Radio 2). The album received positive reviews from The Guardian , [6] The Times , [7] The Mirror , [8] Q [8] and Mojo . [8] The single "Portrait" was played on Radio 2 and was released at about the same time as the album.
Oniyama appeared on 'Later with Jools Holland' [9] and the Andrew Marr Show [10] and more recently performed live from Glastonbury on BBC2. [11]
In 2012 Oniyama backed up Paolo Nutini, [12] Michael Kiwanuka, [13] Rodrigo y Gabriella [14] and The Noisettes in live concerts. [15] She toured with Paloma Faith [16] across her UK tour in early 2013 as well as undertaking her own headline tour in April 2013. [17] Her festival appearances in 2013 include Glastonbury, [2] T in the Park, [2] Latitude [2] and Electric Picnic. [2]
The album Portrait was released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on 5 July 2013. [2]
In 2015 she contributed by singing on four songs on the jazz album Into Forever by Matthew Halsall & The Gondwana Orchestra.
In 2016, Oniyama appeared on Scottish band Travis' eighth album, Everything at Once. She is featured on the track "Idlewild".
In November 2022, she released her third album, Kindred.

The Cribs are a British indie rock band originally from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, that formed in 2001. The band consists of twins Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross Jarman. Cherry Ghost were an English music group which began in 2006, first as an alias for singer-songwriter Simon Aldred as a solo artist, before morphing into a full band. Their debut album, Thirst for Romance, was released in July 2007 and entered the UK Album Charts at No. 7. It was nominated for an Ivor Novello award as well as winning Aldred an Ivor Novello for best song "People Help the People". A second album, titled Beneath This Burning Shoreline, was released in July 2010 to positive critical acclaim. Aldred, under the moniker Out Cold, released a solo album titled Invasion of Love in September 2013, featuring a markedly synthpop sound. Cherry Ghost released their third and final album Herd Runners in May 2014; Aldred last performed with Cherry Ghost in 2016 on the Marc Riley Show on BBC Radio 6 Music.

Paolo Giovanni Nutini is a Scottish singer, songwriter and musician from Paisley. Nutini's debut album, These Streets (2006), peaked at number three on the UK Albums Chart. Its follow-up, Sunny Side Up (2009), debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. Both albums have been certified quintuple platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. Five years later, Nutini released his third studio album, Caustic Love, in April 2014. The album received positive reviews from music critics. Caustic Love debuted at number one on the UK Album Charts and was certified platinum by the BPI in June 2014. In July 2022, he released his fourth album, Last Night in the Bittersweet.
Kristyna Myles is a MOBO nominated British singer-songwriter who is currently based in Manchester. Originally from Leicestershire, she came into prominence after winning Busk Idol, a 2005 nationwide singing competition organised by BBC Radio 5 Live. Since winning, she has featured on albums by Chris de Burgh and Rick Guard, and has performed on television programmes such as Songs of Praise, Wogan Now & Then and Play It Again. She also sang a duet with de Burgh on his European tour. In 2009, she was nominated for a MOBO award as part of gospel act DTWG : Desire To Worship God and most recently nominated for a MOBO for her own music in 2014.

Leo Matthew Abrahams is an English musician, composer and producer. He has collaborated with Brian Eno, Katie Melua, Imogen Heap, Jarvis Cocker, Carl Barât, Regina Spektor, Jon Hopkins and Paul Simon. After attending the Royal Academy of Music in England, he started his musical career by touring as lead guitarist with Imogen Heap. Since 2005 he has released five solo albums, largely in an ambient style involving complex arrangements and a use of guitar-generated textures. He has also co-written or arranged a variety of film soundtracks, including Peter Jackson's 2009 release The Lovely Bones and Steve McQueen's Hunger.
