Joshua Cinnamo (born February 18, 1981), is an American Paralympic athlete. [1] Cinnamo competes in the F46 classification, as described by the International Paralympic Committee and World Para Athletics. [2]

Career

Cinnamo attended Luther College in Iowa where he competed on the football and track and field teams. [3]

Josh Cinnamo has most recently competed in the 2023 edition of the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris, France. Cinnamo earned a silver medal with a throw of 16.00m. This is the second medal in as many chances at the World Championships.

In 2021, Cinnamo participated in the delayed, Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games where threw his way to the bronze medal. This was Cinnamo's first Paralympic Games. Here are results for Athletics at the 2020 Summer Paralympics – Men's shot put.

Cinnamo has also competed at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships, in Dubai. There, he notably won the gold medal in the final of the Shot PutF46 event with a world record throw of 16.80m. This was Cinnamo's first World Para Athletics medal after finishing fourth in the 2017 edition hosted in London, England. [4] [5]

Earlier in 2019, Cinnamo competed at the 2019 Parapan American Games in Lima, Peru. There he won a gold medal and set a new world record of 16.49m (previous mark 15.98m) in the Shot Put – F46 final; the first of two world record setting throws for the year. [6]

Cinnamo has competed at the highest levels of adaptive athletics, including Crossfit, Strongman and powerlifting. As a member (and executive director) of Team Some Assembly Required, Cinnamo finished 2nd at the Arnold Sports Festival's World's Strongest Disabled Man.

After she moved to Canada in 1981, Gustafson won six golds and one silver at the 1984 Summer Paralympics for Canada. In 2020, Gustafson became part of the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame.

Francisca Mardones is a Chilean Paralympic athlete and former wheelchair tennis player. She has competed at both the 2012 and 2016 Summer Paralympics in tennis, before retiring in 2017 to concentrate on athletics. She broke her own world record in the F54 Women's shot put event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Mardones is part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Lucyna Kornobys is a Polish Paralympic athlete competing in discus throw, javelin throw and shot put events. She represented Poland at the 2016 Summer Paralympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and she won the silver medal in the women's shot put F34 event. She also won the silver medal in this event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan and the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France.

Renata Śliwińska is a Polish Paralympic athlete competing in F40-classification discus throw and shot put events. She won the gold medal in the women's shot put F40 event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo, Japan. In this event, she is also a two-time gold medalist at the World Para Athletics European Championships and a three-time medalist, including gold, at the World Para Athletics Championships.

Zhao Yuping is a visually impaired Chinese Paralympic athlete competing in F12/F13-classification events. She won the gold medal in the women's javelin throw F13 event at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France. She also won the silver medal in her event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan. She is a four-time gold medalist in this event at the World Para Athletics Championships.
