Guatemala competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, People's Republic of China from August 8 to August 24, 2008. In what was the country's fourteenth Summer Olympics since its debut at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. A total of twelve athletes competed in nine sports and twelve distinct events. It was the lowest number of participants for Guatemala since the 1980 Games in Moscow, USSR. Three of the twelve athletes were taking part in their second Olympics, and one of them, race walker Luis García, participated in his fourth. In any event that involved a progression through rounds, the Guatemalan athletes did not advance past the first round; as of the Beijing Olympics, there had yet to be a Guatemalan medalist. At the opening ceremony, badminton player Kevin Cordón bore Guatemala's flag.
Puerto Rico competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics which was held in Beijing, People's Republic of China from August 8 to August 24, 2008. The American territory with a population of four million people qualified 22 athletes in eight different sports. The appearance of the Puerto Rican delegation at the Beijing Olympics marked the commonwealth's sixteenth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics, and its twenty-second appearance at any Olympic games, since its debut at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, England. Of its competitors participating in events that involve progression by heats, six athletes advanced at least one round in their events, and two advanced at least two rounds, with Asunción Ocasio almost medaling bronze in taekwondo. However, there were no Puerto Rican medalists at the Beijing Olympics. McWilliams Arroyo, a boxer, bore Puerto Rico's flag at the ceremonies.
The United Arab Emirates participated at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, which were held from 8 to 24 August 2008. The country's participation at the Beijing Olympics marked its seventh appearance in the Summer Olympics since its début at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The delegation sent by the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee consisted of eight athletes in seven sports: athletics, equestrian, judo, sailing, shooting, swimming and taekwondo. Two of the eight athletes were women, making Beijing the first time the country had sent female athletes to a Summer Olympiad, and most of their athletes qualified for the Games by using a wild card or receiving an invitation from the Tripartite Commission. The country did not win any medals at the Games; the best performance of the delegation was from sport shooter Ahmad Al-Makotum, who placed seventh in the qualification round of the men's double trap and lost a subsequent four-man shoot-out.
Julio Elizardo Dujarric Lembcke is a Dominican sport shooter. Dujarric made his official debut for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he placed twenty-first in men's skeet, with a score of 119 points, tying his position with seven other shooters including former Olympic champion Ennio Falco of Italy, and five-time Olympian Guillermo Alfredo Torres of Cuba.
Saeed Al-Mutairi is a Saudi Arabian sport shooter. Al-Mutairi made his official debut for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he placed thirty-second in men's skeet shooting, with a hit of 117 targets, tying his position with five other shooters, including six-time Olympian and former silver medalist Eric Swinkels of the Netherlands. He managed to score 119 points for his category at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, and eventually achieved his best career result at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, when he shot a total 120 targets in the qualifying rounds, finishing only in seventeenth place.
Dilshod Mukhtarov is an Uzbekistani sport shooter. Mukhtarov made his official debut at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where he finished ninth in the men's 10 m air pistol, with a score of 379 points, tying his position with Russia's Vladimir Goncharov. He also reached the final of the men's 50 m pistol event, but finished only in fifth place by two tenths of a point behind Goncharov, for a total score of 662.0.
Dadallah Noor Mohamed Al-Bulushi is an Omani sport shooter. Al-Bulushi was one of sixteen athletes, including his brother Abdul Latif, who made the nation's official debut at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he competed in two rifle shooting events. He placed forty-ninth in the 50 m rifle prone, with a total score of 582 points, tying his position with three other shooters including Israel's Itzhak Yonassi. Few days later, he competed for his second event, 50 m rifle 3 positions, where he was able to shoot 387 targets in a prone position, 341 in kneeling, and 322 in standing, for an overall total score of 1,050 points, finishing only in fiftieth place.
Wojciech Michał Knapik is a Polish sport shooter. Since 2001, Knapik had won a total of four medals at the ISSF World Cup circuit, including gold for the 10 m air pistol.
Lucas Rafael Bennazar Ortiz is a Puerto Rican sport shooter. At age thirty-five, Bennazar made his official debut for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he competed in two shotgun events. He placed twenty-seventh in the men's trap, with a score of 112 points, tying his position with France's Yves Tronc and Italy's Marco Venturini. Few days later, he competed for his second event, the double trap, where he was able to fire 3 sets of 50 shots, for an overall total score of 122 points, finishing only in twenty-third place.
Konstantin Vladimirovich Prikhodtchenko is a Russian sport shooter. He won a silver medal for the 50 m rifle three positions at the 2002 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Lahti, Finland, with a score of 1255.4 points. He is also a member of CSKA Moscow and is coached and trained by Victor Vlasov.
Mohamed Abdellah is an Egyptian sport shooter. He is a two-time Olympian, and an eight-time medalist in men's small-bore and air rifle at the African Shooting Championships.
Diego Duarte Delgado is a Colombian sport shooter. He won the World Championships in Skeet Men at Lonato World Cup 2003, defeating Eric Wandtdal and Olympic silver medalist Tore Brovold, Diego also is holder of the Panamerican Record with 149/150, He won a bronze medal in men's skeet shooting at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with a total score of 148 points.
Tomáš Jeřábek is a Czech sport shooter. Jerabek had won two medals, and eventually set a world record of 3,511 points for the Czech rifle shooting team at the 2002 ISSF World Championships in Lahti, Finland. He is a two-time Olympian, and also, a member of the shooting team for ŠKP Rapid Plzeň, under his coach Petr Kurka.
Georgios Salavantakis is a Greek sport shooter. He won a gold medal in men's skeet shooting at the 2004 ISSF World Cup series in Sydney, Australia, with a total score of 148 points.
Lee Dae-myung is a South Korean sport shooter. He won a silver medal in the men's 50 m free pistol at the 2010 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Munich, Germany, accumulating a score of 665.2 targets. He also captured two more gold medals for air pistol shooting at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, and at the 2012 ISSF World Cup in Sydney, Australia, with scores of 685.8 and 691.3 points, respectively.
Pak Jong-ran is a North Korean sport shooter. She won two gold medals in the women's skeet at the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing, China, and at the 1991 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Perth, Western Australia, with scores of 197 and 191 targets, respectively.
Ryu Myong-yon is a North Korean sport shooter. Ryu made his official debut for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, where he placed twenty-sixth in the 10 m air pistol, and twenty-eighth in the 50 m pistol, accumulating scores of 574 and 550 points, respectively.
Jorge Nicolás Atalah Moya is a Chilean sport shooter. He won a silver medal in men's skeet shooting at the 2004 ISSF World Cup in Americana, São Paulo, Brazil, with a total score of 147 points. Atalah is also the son of Nicolas Atalah, who competed in the same event at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico.
Ariel Mauricio Flores Gómez is a Mexican sport shooter. He won a bronze medal in men's skeet shooting at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and gold at the 2008 ISSF World Cup series in Kerrville, Texas, accumulating scores of 144 and 147 targets, respectively.
George Raymond Barton is an Australian sport shooter. He won a bronze medal in men's skeet pair shooting, along with his brother Clive Barton, at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, with a total score of 183 points.
