The Dominican Republic national football team represents the Dominican Republic in men's international football, and is governed by the Dominican Football Federation. The team is a member of the Caribbean Football Union of CONCACAF, the governing body of football in North and Central America and the Caribbean.
The Bahamas national football team is controlled by the Bahamas Football Association; it was founded in 1967 and joined FIFA in 1968. Bahamas has never qualified for the FIFA World Cup or the CONCACAF Gold Cup. They have been a part of CONCACAF since 1967.

The athletics competition at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games took place at the Estadio Pedro de Heredia in Cartagena, Colombia and lasted from July 25 to July 29. The athletics competition at the 2003 Pan American Games was held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from Tuesday, August 5, to Saturday, August 9, 2003. The competition comprised track and field events plus marathon races and three racewalking events, with a total of 46 contests taking place.

Milagros Cabral De La Cruz is a retired female volleyball player from the Dominican Republic who won the 1998 silver and three consecutive gold medals in 2002, 2006 and 2010 at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

The women's high jump event at the 1999 Pan American Games was held on July 30. Juana Arrendel of the Dominican Republic had originally won the competition with a 1.93 metres jump but later tested positive for an illegal substance, stanozolol, and was stripped of her medal.
Juana Isidra Fernández Veras is a road and track cyclist from the Dominican Republic. She is an eight-time winner of the Dominican Republic National Time Trial Championships, and a two-time winner of the Dominican Republic National Road Race Championships.
