Jujutsu, also known as jiu-jitsu and ju-jitsu, is a family of Japanese martial arts and a system of close combat that can be used in a defensive or offensive manner to kill or subdue one or more weaponless or armed and armored opponents. A subset of techniques from certain styles of jujutsu was used to develop many modern martial arts and combat sports, such as judo, sambo, ARB, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and mixed martial arts.

Ju-Jitsu International Federation

The Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) is an international sport federation founded in 1998 after the expansion of the European Ju-Jitsu Federation (EJJF) for the propagation of the modern competitive sports version of Jujitsu, also known as Sport Ju-Jitsu.

The World Combat Games is an international multi-sport event featuring combat sports and martial arts. The games were founded by SportAccord as a way of bringing various martial arts and combative sports to an international audience. The World Combat Games are also accompanied by a cultural program that reflects the ancient traditions and values of martial arts as well as their contribution to modern society. The games are recognised by the International Olympic Committee.

The first World Combat Games were held in Beijing, China, from August 28 to September 4, 2010. 136 gold medals were vied for by 1,108 competitors from all five continents.

The ju-jitsu events at the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung was played between 21 and 22 July. 115 athletes, from 19 nations, participated in the tournament. The ju-jitsu competition took place at National Sun Yat-Sen University Gymnasium.

Mikhail Zayats is an ethnic Russian professional mixed martial artist currently competing in Bellator's Light Heavyweight division. He has also competed in M-1 Global. According to the global-mma.com rankings, he is the 7th ranked Light Heavyweight in the world.

The ju-jitsu competition at the 2013 World Games was held from July 29 to 30 at the Evagelista Mora Coliseum in Cali, Colombia. 91 athletes, from 29 nations, participated in the tournament.

Savate, for the 2013 World Combat Games, took place at the Sports Complex 'Yubileiny' Hall 2, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The medals were awarded on the 20 and 22 October 2013. Also, these Games marked the debut of this sport because it was not contested in the inaugural 2010 WCG. This sport was demonstrated at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Ilya Grigorievich Borok is a Russian jiujitsu fighter. Borok has won many major tournaments in jiujitsu, including the World Championships, the World Games, the World Combat Games and the European Championships.

The ju-jitsu events at the 2001 World Games in Akita was played between 19 and 20 August. 71 athletes, from 15 nations, participated in the tournament. The ju-jitsu competition took place at Akita Prefectural Gymnasium.
