Julian Allen Hykes (born 6 October 1982) is a former South African field hockey player. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he competed for the national team in the men's tournament. [2] After the 2018 World Cup he retired from the national team. [3] [4] He was also a cricketer, playing in two List A matches for Border in 2009. [5]

South Africa competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's eighteenth participation overall and sixth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics in the post-apartheid era. The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) sent a total of 125 athletes to the Games, 67 men and 58 women, to compete in 17 sports. Field hockey and women's football were the only team-based sports in which South Africa were representation at these Olympic Games. There was only a single competitor in archery, BMX cycling, judo, shooting and weightlifting.

Natalie Fulton, also known as Natalie Haynes, is a former South Africa women's field hockey international. She represented South Africa at the 2002 Women's Hockey World Cup and at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Her husband, Craig Fulton, and her brother-in-law, Grant Fulton, were both South Africa men's field hockey internationals. In 2004 Fulton and her husband became the first married couple to represent South Africa at the same Olympic Games.
