Mahbubnagar,formerly known as Rukmammapeta and Palamooru is a city in Mahbubnagar District of the Indian state of Telangana named after the 6th Nizam,Mahboob Ali Khan. It is the headquarters of Mahbubnagar mandal in Mahbubnagar revenue division. The city is also the largest in the district with an area of 39.64 km2 (15.31 sq mi) and 7th most populous in the state.

The 2012 Telangana protests were a chain of protests which were part of the Telangana movement. The Bharatiya Janata Party,led by state-party president Kishan Reddy,began the 22-day Telangana "Poru Yatra" –a 3,500-kilometre (2,200 mi) journey through 986 villages and 88 assembly constituencies stressing the need for a stance on Telangana stance –on 19 January. Although the tour was successful in reiterating the party's pro-Telangana stance,it did not gain the hoped-for support because of the indifferent attitude of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Telangana Joint Action Committee. The TRS' failure to support Reddy's yatra has resulted in increasing differences between the parties. Two assembly by-elections were held that year,the first in March,and the second in June;the BJP won the first,and the YSR Congress Party the second. Protests resumed in August,when K. Chandrashekar Rao gave the centre a two-week deadline to declare statehood.

The Telangana State Excise Department is the law enforcement agency for excise in the Indian state of Telangana. The department enforces laws related to liquor,narcotics,psychotropics and medicines that contain alcohol and narcotics. The department was created when the state of Telangana was formed in 2014. The first minister to take charge of this department was T Padma Rao from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party. In December 2023,Jupally Krishna Rao was appointed as the Minister of Telangana Excise under the Revanth Reddy Ministry.
The 2015 cash-for-votes scam was a political scandal in India,the second scandal of its kind since the 2008 cash-for-votes scandal. The 2015 political scandal started off when the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders of Telangana state were caught in a video footage,aired in the media,offering bribes to a nominated MLA,Elvis Stephenson,for his vote in the 2015 elections of the Telangana Legislative Council. The TDP MLA Revanth Reddy was arrested by the Telangana Police when he was offering Rs. 50 lakhs to Stephenson. Reddy was then presented before the court and was sent to jail. Similarly,with N. Chandrababu Naidu,the then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister,with Stephenson was aired in the news media.
