Juris Tone (born 26 May 1961 in Riga) is a Latvian-Soviet bobsledder who competed in the late 1980s. He won the bronze medal in the four-man event at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. [1] [2] [3]
He is also the current recordman holder for Latvia in 4 × 100 m in Athletics (Moscow, 39.32, 1983, Spartakiads with Genadijs Murašovs, Ronalds Razmuss, Āris Āboliņš).
Jānis Lūsis was a Latvian track and field athlete who competed in javelin throw.
Jānis Daliņš was a Latvian race walker. Competing in the 50 km event he won a silver medal at the 1932 Olympics, becoming the first Latvian to win an Olympic medal. He also won the 1934 European title and set seven world records in the 1930s. At the 1936 Olympics he led the race at 30 km, but abandoned the race due to a leg injury.
Jānis Miņins is a Latvian bobsledder who has competed since 1999. He won a bronze medal in the four-man event at the FIBT World Championships 2009 in Lake Placid, New York, earning the country its first championship medal ever.
Ivans Klementjevs is a Soviet-born Latvian politician and former sprint canoeist who competed from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. He won three Olympic medals in C-1 1000 m at the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics. The highlight was the gold medal in 1988, which he won as a competitor for the USSR. He trained at Trudovye Rezervy and later at the Armed Forces sports society in Riga when Latvia was part of the Soviet Union.
