Arunachal Pradesh is a state in northeast India. It was formed from the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) region, and India declared it as a state on 20 February 1987. Itanagar is its capital and largest town. It borders the Indian states of Assam and Nagaland to the south. It shares international borders with Bhutan in the west, Myanmar in the east, and a disputed 1,129 km border with China's Tibet Autonomous Region in the north at the McMahon Line.
Mukut Mithi is an Indian politician and former Member of the Rajya Sabha. He is a former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh. He served as an MLA consecutively from 1983 until his appointment as last Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry and first Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry in 2006. He was Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh from 19 January 1999 until 3 August 2003.

Sukladhwaja (1510-1577AD), was the 3rd son of Biswa Singha, founder of the Koch Dynasty in the Kamata Kingdom and younger brother of Nara Narayan, the 2nd king of the Koch dynasty of the Kamata kingdom in the 16th century. He was Nara Narayan's commander-in-chief and chief Minister (Dewan) of the kingdom. He got his name Chilarai because, as a general, he executed troop movements that were as fast as a chila (kite/Eagle).
Shilendra Kumar Singh or S.K. Singh was an Indian diplomat. He was Governor of Arunachal Pradesh from December 2004 to September 2007 and Governor of Rajasthan from September 2007 until he died in office in December 2009.

Prof Bhabananda Deka was a pioneer Assam economist and author who conducted novel research on the economy of the far eastern part of India. He was also a leading Indian-Assamese litterateur of the famed 'Awahon-Ramdhenu Era' of Assamese literature during the mid-20th century. He was the author of a total of 115 English and Assamese books including textbooks on a range of fifteen subjects including economics, ancient Assamese literature, philosophy, education, religion, mythology, archaeology, tribal study, poetry, drama, memoirs, civics, political science, biographies; he also edited books and journals. He also authored a variety of research papers and articles about the state of Assam, a state in the north-eastern part of India. He pioneered the writing of books on Economics in Assamese. His Assamese book Axomor Arthaneeti was the first ever research-based comprehensive book on Assam Economics, which was published for the first time in 1963. He was conferred with the honorary title of 'Asom Ratna' -- 'Jewel of Assam' by the intellectuals of Assam on 19 August 2007 at a public meet held under the presidency of Prof. (Dr) Satyendra Narayan Goswami.
Kalikho Pul was an Indian politician and former Chief Minister of the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh for a brief time in 2016. He was elected five times from the Hayuliang Vidhan Sabha constituency representing the Indian National Congress. With the support of a few elected members of Congress and the opposing Bharatiya Janata Party, he took Chief Ministership of Arunachal Pradesh. However, the Supreme Court of India ruled against this appointment on various grounds. On 9 August 2016, Pul allegedly committed suicide by hanging at his official residence in Itanagar; Pul's supporters protested in Itanagar demanding an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Mein holds the portfolio of Finance & Investment, Power & Non Conventional Energy Resources, Tax & Excise, State Lotteries, and Economics & Statistics.
Habung Payeng is a former Information Commissioner in Arunachal Pradesh and a member of the National Executive of Aam Aadmi Party. He contested 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Arunachal West constituency. Before becoming the Information Commissioner, Payeng worked as a lecturer of economics in J.N. College, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. He has also worked as a newsreader and translator in All India Radio and as an editor for 'The Arunachal News', an English weekly paper Published from Itanagar.
Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya is an Indian politician who was the Governor of Manipur, from 27 June 2019 to 23 July 2019 and Governor of Nagaland, from 19 July 2014 to 31 July 2019, also Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, from 28 January 2017 to 3 October 2017 and Governor of Tripura, from 21 July 2014 to 19 May 2015.

She served as Secretary, Dept. of Empowerment of Person With Disabilities, Govt. of India. She also served as Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh. She is the first lady IAS from North East to reach a Secretary level post in central ministry. She is the first female IAS officer from Mishing tribe of Assam.
Hamlet Bareh Ngapkynta (1931-2012) was an Indian writer, historian and film director from the Northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. He is known as the first person from the Khasi tribe, an indigenous ethic group of the state, to secure a doctoral degree (PhD) and as the maker of the first feature film in Khasi language, Ka Synjuk Ri ki Laiphew Syiem. He was the chairman of the executive committee of the Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh and a recipient of the 2004 Meghalaya Day Award. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2004,
Starting April 2015, the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh underwent a political crisis. The Indian National Congress Chief Minister Nabam Tuki replaced Jarbom Gamlin as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on 1 November 2011 and continued till January 2016. After a political crisis in 2016, the President's rule was imposed ending his tenure as the chief minister. In February 2016, Kalikho Pul became the Chief Minister when 14 disqualified MLAs were reinstated by the Supreme Court. On 13 July 2016, the Supreme Court quashed the Arunachal Pradesh Governor J.P. Rajkhowa’s order to advance the Assembly session from 14 January 2016 to 16 December 2015, which resulted in President's rule in Arunachal Pradesh. As a result, Tuki was restored as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on 13 July 2016. But hours before proving majority, he resigned as the Chief Minister on 16 July 2016. He was succeeded by Pema Khandu as the INC Chief Minister but later joined PPA in September 2016 along with majority MLAs. He further joined BJP in December 2016 along with majority MLAs.
Brigadier (Dr.) B. D. Mishra is a retired officer of the Indian Army, and presently Lieutenant governor of Ladakh. Previously he held the offices of Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and Governor of Meghalaya.
Pran Nath Luthra (1917–2000) was an Indian civil service officer and writer, best known for his services for the rehabilitation of the refugees in the Northeast India and his writings on his days of service. He was an adviser to the Governor of Assam and an additional secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation of the Government of West Bengal. The Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, in 1972.
Moji Riba(1911–1973) was the eldest son of Gomo Riba and Nyapu Riba, and an Indian freedom fighter from a small village called Dari in the Lepa Rada district of Arunachal Pradesh, previously known as North-East Frontier Tracts/North-East Frontier Agency, who participated in the Indian independence movement.
Sananta Tanty was an Indian poet of Assamese literature. Tanty was born to an Odia family in Kalinagar Tea Estate. Tanty completed his secondary education at a Bengali-medium school but continued his literary works in the mainland Assamese language. Tanty received numerous awards and distinctions, including the 2018 Sahitya Akademi Award for "Kailoir Dinto Amar Hobo", a collection of his poems.
Manohar Lal Kampani was the first lieutenant governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He served from 12 November 1982 to 3 December 1985.
Robin Hibu is a serving IPS officer of 1993 (47RR) batch of AGMUT cadre. Hibu is currently posted as Special Commissioner of Police at Delhi Armed Police. Hibu was also the CSO at Rastrapati Bhavan. Hibu also holds the position as managing director at Delhi Police Housing Corporation.
