K. Vanlalvena (born 14 January 1970) is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament at the Rajya Sabha from Mizoram. [1] He belongs to the Mizo National Front backed by the National Democratic Alliance. [2]

He completed his Bachelor's in Science at Pachhunga University College in 1993. [3]

Career

He was the former President of the Mizo Zirlai Pawl, a student union in Mizoram. [4] He joined politics in 2002 as general secretary of MNF youth wing and later as president of the Youth wing of Mizo National Front. [5] He had previously lost in a bypoll held in Aizawl North-3 in November 2015. [6] He is also currently a member of the National Core Committee of Mizo National Front. [7]

He is married to H. Lalhuapzauvi and has 3 children. [8]

Mizo National Front Political party in India

The Mizo National Front is a regional political party in Mizoram, India. MNF emerged from the Mizo National Famine Front, which was formed by Pu Laldenga to protest against the inaction of the Indian central government towards the famine situation in the Mizo areas of the Assam state in 1959. It staged a major uprising in 1966, followed by years of underground activities. In 1986, it signed the Mizoram Accord with the Government of India, renouncing secession and violence.

Mizoram Secular Force (MSF) was a political alliance in Mizoram, launched ahead of the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. MSF comprised Indian National Congress, Mizoram People's Conference and Zoram Nationalist Party. In the elections, MSF had a joint candidate for the sole Mizoram, Laltluangliana Khiangte. Khiangte lost the seat with 159,170 votes. Khiangte won in 9 out of 40 assembly constituencies making up the Lok Sabha constituency.

Vanlalzawma a politician from Mizoram who was a Member of the Mizoram in the 13th Lok Sabha and 14th Lok Sabha. In the confidence voting on 22 July 2008 that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) won with a 275-256 margin. Lalduhoma is an Indian politician and a former Indian Police Service officer from Mizoram. Resigning from the security service to the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he was elected as Member of Parliament to the Lok Sabha from Mizoram in 1984. He left the Indian National Congress, the party from which he was elected, for which he was disqualified from the parliament. Lal Thanhawla Indian politician

Lal Thanhawla is an Indian politician and former Chief Minister of Mizoram. He holds the record for longest-serving Chief Minister of Mizoram, occupying the position for five terms: 1984 to 1986, 1989 to 1993, 1993 to 1998, 2008 to 2013, and 2013 to 2018. He belongs to the Indian National Congress. He has been the President of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee since 1973. His electoral constituencies are Serchhip and Hrangturzo. He successfully contested the Mizoram Legislative Assembly elections nine times, in 1978, 1979, 1984, 1987, 1989, 1993, 2003, 2008, and 2013.

C. L. Ruala is an Indian politician from Mizoram and member of the Indian National Congress. He was a Member of Parliament of the 16th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He was elected from the only one-seat Mizoram constituency. He won over Robert Romawia, IND candidate, and M. Lalmanzuala, Aam Aadmi Party candidate, by getting a total vote 210,485 (48.7%). He was also elected member in the previous term during 2009-2014.

The Mizoram Legislative Assembly election, 2013 was held on 25 November 2013 in all 40 constituencies of the Legislative Assembly of Mizoram. Results were declared on 9 December. The main contest was between incumbent the Indian National Congress and the Mizo National Front led Mizoram Democratic Alliance. Incumbent Chief Minister Pu Lalthanhawla and his party Indian National Congress won a majority and continued in government.

Zoramthanga Chief Minister of Mizoram

Zoramthanga is an Indian politician who is the Chief Minister of Mizoram. He is the president of Mizo National Front (MNF) party. He had served as the Chief Minister of Mizoram from December 1998 to December 2008, for two consecutive terms. He was second-in-command to Laldenga during the secession movement of Mizo National Front, and became the successor as the party leader, after MNF was a recognised political party, following the death of Laldenga in 1990. He joined the Mizoram Legislative Assembly as Minister of Finance and Education in 1987. His party lost the 2008 Assembly elections to the Indian National Congress. He contested from both North and South Champhai and lost in both constituencies. He tendered his resignation to Governor MM Lakhera on 8 December 2008 and left office three days later. He has cited anti-incumbency as reason for the loss of his party. He returned as Chief Minister after his party came back to power in the 2018 state assembly elections.

Ronald Sapa Tlau is a Congress politician from Mizoram who represented Mizoram in the Rajya Sabha.

The Mizoram Peace Accord, 1986 was an official agreement between the Government of India and the Mizo National Front (MNF) to end insurgency and violence in Mizoram, India, that started in 1966. The Mizo National Front was an organisation of Mizo secessionists led by Laldenga to fight for independence from India. The movement was basically due to lack of support from the government during the great famine in Mizoram in the late 1950s. Political insurgency and social unrest ensued in the next decades. After a number of negotiations, the document titled Mizoram Accord, 1986: Memorandum of Settlement was finally signed on 30 June 1986. It was signed by Laldenga for MNF, R.D. Pradhan, Home Secretary, Government of India, and Lalkhama, Chief Secretary, Government of Mizoram. It is remarked as the most and only successful peace agreement in India after its independence from British Empire in 1947.

The Zoram People’s Movement is an alliance of seven party to formed non Indian National Congress non Mizo National Front government formed by Mizoram People's Conference. It is an alliance movement ,the member's are Mizoram People's Conference Zoram Nationalist Party, Zoram Exodus Movement, Zoram Decentralisation Front, Zoram Reformation Front and Mizoram People's Party. Later all these parties merged into a single entity. In 2018 Mizoram Legislative Assembly election, it has emerged as movement group and support some independent candidate with same symbol, flag and policy and won 8 seats. Zoram People Movement were reform as political party from movement group.

Lalnghinglova Hmar also known as Tetea Hmar was one of the Lok Sabha MP candidate from Mizoram backed by Indian National Congress and Zoram People's Movement. He is also currently the honorary secretary of Mizoram Football Association and Executive Committee member of All India Football Federation and has been credited with the rise of Football in Mizoram. Currently he is the joint editor of Mizoram largest news paper Vanglaini.

C. Lalrosanga is an Indian politician from Mizoram and member of the Mizo National Front. He is a sitting Member of Parliament of the 17th Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament. He was elected from the only one-seat Mizoram constituency. He won over Lalnghinglova Hmar, IND candidate, and other candidates Nirupam Chakma of the BJP, TBC Lalvenchhunga of the PRISM, and independent candidates — Lal Hriatrenga Chhangte and Lalthlamuani by getting a total vote 223,509 (44.99%).

2020 Indian Rajya Sabha elections Elections for the Upper House of Indian Parliament

2020 Rajya Sabha elections is the set of indirect elections by the members of State legislatures of India, to elect new members to fill vacancies in the Rajya Sabha – the upper house of the Parliament of India. The elections are held annually and throughout the year on an ad hoc basis. The elections in 2020 are for a total of 73 seats of which 55 of them were to be elected by March 26. The remaining were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Election Commission of India later announced all the elections for the remaining 24 Rajya Sabha seats were to be held on 19 June 2020.

Kenneth Chawngliana is a Zoram People's Movement politician from Mizoram. He was the fourth Speaker of Mizoram Legislative Assembly. He had been elected in Mizoram Legislative Assembly elected 1979 to 1984 from Saitual as candidate of Mizo People's Conference.

R Lalzirliana is a Mizo National Front politician from Mizoram. He is the current power and electricity, art and culture, land resources, soil and water conservation and district council affairs departments of Mizoram.

Tawnluia is a Mizo National Front politician from Mizoram. He is the current Deputy Chief Minister and holds the public health engineering, urban development and poverty alleviation portfolio among others.
