National Atomic Company Kazatomprom Joint Stock Company (Kazatomprom) (Kazakh: Қазатомөнеркәсіп, romanized: Qazatomónerkásip) is the world’s largest producer and seller of natural uranium, providing over 40% of global primary uranium supply in 2019 from its operations in Kazakhstan. Kazatomprom's uranium is used for the generation of nuclear power around the world.
Ekibastuz GRES-1 is a 4,000 MW coal-fired thermal power station (GRES) at Ekibastusz, Kazakhstan. It is located by lake Zhyngyldy. GRES-1 has two 330-metre (1,083 ft) tall chimneys. As of June 2010, the Ekibastuz GRES-1 power station was the largest power station in Kazakhstan, and generated 13% of the nation's electricity.
Bogatyr Coal, formerly known as Bogatyr Access Komyr, is the largest coal mining company in Kazakhstan. As of 2018, the company produced 42 million tonnes of coal, accounting for approximately 40% of the country's coal output that year. The company has mined approximately 1 gigatonne of coal in its history, and has 2.5 additional gigatonnes of coal reserves, making it one of the largest coal companies in the world. Bogatyr Komir operates two mines, the Bogatyr Mine and the Severny Mine.

Sangtuda 1 Hydroelectric Power Plant is a hydroelectric power plant, located on the Vakhsh River in Tajikistan. Construction commenced during the Soviet period in the 1980s, but halted in the beginning of the 1990s due to lack of financing when the station was about 20% complete. An agreement with Russia allowed to restart the construction, with four units entering service in 2008–2009. The plant was officially commissioned on 31 July 2009. Once working at full capacity, the plant will provide around 12% of Tajikistan's electricity output.
Samruk-Kazyna, officially known as the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna", is a sovereign wealth fund and joint stock company in Kazakhstan which owns, either in whole or in part, a number of major companies in the country. This includes the national rail and postal service, the state oil and gas company KazMunayGas, the state uranium company Kazatomprom, Air Astana, and others. The state is the sole shareholder of the fund.
PJSC «Ukrhydroenergo» is a Ukrainian state-owned enterprise that administers many major hydro power plants along the Dnieper and Dniester rivers. It is Ukraine's main hydropower generating company. It is capable of covering peak loads and providing FCAS for the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU). Hydroelectricity is a renewable energy source, and does not require the combustion of fossil fuels in its operation. The company operates ten power plants on the Dnieper and Dniester rivers: Kyivska HPP, Kyivska PSP, Kanivska HPP, Kremenchutska HPP, Seredniodniprovska HPP, Dniprovska HPP No. 1, Dniprovska HPP No. 2, Kakhovska HPP, Dnistrovska HPP, and Dnistrovska PSP. Enabling works are underway at Kanivska PSP and Kakhovska HPP No. 2.

Currently, the United Chemical Company implements a number of investment projects, which include the productions existing and being modernized, as well as the ventures newly established in the Kazakhstan’s chemical industry. Their products are intended for various industries, including the gold mining industry, agriculture, etc.
Dariali Hydropower Plant, referred to as Dariali HPP, is a 108 MW run-of-the-river hydropower plant built in 2017 in Georgia. It is located on the Tergi River in Kazbegi Municipality, at less than 1 km from the Russian-Georgian border, 160 km far from Tbilisi.
KAZ Minerals plc is a British copper company focused on large scale, low cost open pit mining in Kazakhstan. The company operates 3 underground mines and 2 concentrators in the East Region, one open pit mine at Bozymchak, Kyrgyzstan and is developing two major growth projects Aktogay and Bozshakol, with the third - Koksay - at scoping stage. KAZ Minerals was created after the completion of the Restructuring of Kazakhmys PLC. The company was listed on the London Stock Exchange and Kazakhstan Stock Exchange until it was acquired by Nova Resources in April 2021.
There is enormous potential for renewable energy in Kazakhstan, particularly from wind and small hydropower plants. The Republic of Kazakhstan has the potential to generate 10 times as much power as it currently needs from wind energy alone. But renewable energy accounts for just 0.6 percent of all power installations. Of that, 95 percent comes from small hydropower projects. The main barriers to investment in renewable energy are relatively high financing costs and an absence of uniform feed-in tariffs for electricity from renewable sources. The amount and duration of renewable energy feed-in tariffs are separately evaluated for each project, based on feasibility studies and project-specific generation costs. Power from wind, solar, biomass and water up to 35 MW, plus geothermal sources, are eligible for the tariff and transmission companies are required to purchase the energy of renewable energy producers. An amendment that introduces and clarifies technology-specific tariffs is now being prepared. It is expected to be adopted by Parliament by the end of 2014. In addition, the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business indicator shows the country to be relatively investor-friendly, ranking it in 10th position for investor protection.
