Kalabaydh is a town in the southern Sool region of Somalia.
Local control was disputed between Somaliland and Puntland.
Presently, the SSC-Khaatumo administration holds control over Kalabaydh and was recently visited by a delegation led by President Abdikhadir Ahmed Aw-Ali on December 16th, 2023. [2]
Kalabaydh has several academic institutions.
According to the Puntland Ministry of Education, there are eight primary schools in the Kalabaydh District. These include Kalabayr Primary, Saaxdheer, Xidh-Xidh, and Qorilay. [3]
Secondary schools in the area include Kalabaydh Secondary. [4]
The town is inhabited by the Dhulbahante clan, with lineages belonging to the Bahararsame sub-clans of Farah Garad. [5] [6]
Sool is an administrative region (gobol) in eastern Somaliland/north western Somalia. It borders Togdheer to the west, Sanaag to the north, Ethiopia to the south and Nugal, Bari to the east. Its capital city is Las Anod. The region is disputed by the self-declared Republic of Somaliland and SSC-Khatumo. The region is partially controlled by both polities.

On February 8, the supreme Garad of Dhulbahante, Garad Jama Garad Ali, declared an intent to secede and reunite with the Federal Government of Somalia.
