Symbols

The Lake Monster is the mascot for Kalamalka Secondary School. It resembles an alligator in appearance and is often seen wearing the Lakers' jersey. [1] The 'Lake Monster' is also displayed on the gymnasium walls and floor. These murals were painted in 2004 by a graduated student.

Kalamalka Lake

Kalamalka Lake is a large lake in the interior plateau of southern central British Columbia, Canada, east of Okanagan Lake. The lake is located approximately 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of the city of Vernon and is its main drinking water supply. The lake is named after the Okanagan First Nation chief who occupied its northern shores.

Highway 97 is the longest continuously numbered route in the Canadian province of British Columbia, running 2,081 km (1,293 mi) from the Canada–United States border near Osoyoos in the south to the British Columbia/Yukon boundary in the north at Watson Lake, Yukon. The route takes its number from U.S. Route 97, with which it connects at the international border. The highway was initially designated '97' in 1953.

Wood Lake (British Columbia)

Wood Lake is a lake in a chain of five major lakes which occupies portions of the Okanagan Valley in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. The lakes of the Okanagan Valley were formed by about 8900 BP. Wood Lake is immediately south of Kalamalka Lake and in 1908 was connected to it by a dredged channel. Situated between Oyama and Winfield, it has a solid reputation for rainbow trout fishing. The lake is named after Tom Wood, who settled on the south end of the lake around 1860.

Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park and Protected Area

Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park and Protected Area is a provincial park in Coldstream, British Columbia, Canada. Located within the Okanagan region, the park encompasses a land area of about 978 hectares of pristine natural areas in the North Okanagan Regional District. Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park and Protected Area adopted its current name from Kalamalka Lake, for which it is located on its shore. During the process of entering summer, calcium carbonate forms crystals that reflect sunlight and create the vivid blue and green colours. Temperature changes in the fall and the spring sometimes create ribbons of deep blue colour in the lake, seen from the park.

Kekuli Bay Provincial Park, formerly Kalamalka West Provincial Park, is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located on the west shore of Kalamalka Lake on BC Highway 97 south of Vernon. The lake is popular for waterskiing and boating, and the park includes a boat launch, as well as a campground with a view of the lake. The park was established in 1990. Its size is about 57 hectares.

Coldstream is a district municipality in British Columbia, Canada, located at the northern end of Kalamalka Lake in the Okanagan Valley. Incorporated on December 21, 1906, Coldstream celebrated its centennial in 2006. The municipality is directly southeast of Vernon and is considered part of Greater Vernon. It is a member municipality of, and also the location of the head offices, of the Regional District of North Okanagan.

Myton School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form. Most students live locally, although the school attracts students from outside the priority area. The school is located on Myton Road in the town of Warwick in Warwickshire, England. The history of the school in its current form dates from 1968. As of January 2015 the school has around 1,700 students.

Justin Vernon American singer-songwriter

Justin DeYarmond Edison Vernon is an American singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known as the primary songwriter and frontman of indie folk band Bon Iver. Known for his distinct falsetto voice, he is also a member of the bands Volcano Choir, Big Red Machine, The Shouting Matches, and Gayngs. He was previously a member of the now-defunct band DeYarmond Edison.

Oyama is a neighbourhood and formal ward located within the district municipality of Lake Country, which is located in the Okanagan region in British Columbia, Canada. It is located at the north end of Wood Lake and at the south end of Kalamalka Lake opposite BC Highway 97.

The Group 6A North Region was a division of the Virginia High School League. Along with the 6A South Region, it consisted of the largest high schools in Virginia. The region was formed in 2013 when the VHSL adopted a six classification format and eliminated the previous three classification system. It is a successor to the AAA Northern Region. The conference system was scrapped prior to the 2017–18 academic year, reverting the previous district. Regions were also renamed, with schools in the 6A North Region distributed into either Group 6A Regions C& D.

SS Wanderer was the second, unofficial ferry to serve Okanagan Lake in British Columbia, Canada.
