Kaletapwa George Farauta (born 28 November 1965) is a Nigerian professor and politician, who is the current deputy governor of Adamawa State since 2023. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] She was the vice chancellor of Adamawa State University, Mubi from 2017 to 2022. [7] [8] [1] [2] She is a former Adamawa State commissioner of education and executive chairman of Universal basic education. [2]

Biography

Kaletapwa Farauta was born on 28 November 1965 in Numan Local Government of Adamawa State. [3] [6] [5] [9] She obtained her primary school leaving certificate from Numan II Primary School, Numan in 1979. In 1983, she obtained her Senior School Certificate from Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Yola. In 1987, she obtained her National Certificate in Education from Federal College of Education (FCE) Yola. [10] She bagged her first and second degree in Agricultural Extension at the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1989 and 1995 respectively. She obtained her PhD from Federal University of Technology currently known as Modibbo Adama Federal University of Technology, Yola [8] [5] [9]

Political appointments

From July  to October, 2014, Farauta served as the Executive Chairman, Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB). On 28 August 2015  Farauta assumed office as the Honourable Commissioner, Adamawa State Ministry of Higher Education and left office on 17 July 2017. [2] [10] [5]

Vice-chancellorship

On the 17 July 2017, she was made the acting vice chancellor of Adamawa State University by the then governor of the state, Senator Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla Bindow. She was eventually confirmed as the vice chancellor by Ahmadu Fintiri. [11]

Crowther Seth born 15th December 1954 is a Nigerian politician who served as deputy Governor of Adamawa State Nigeria He was a Chairman Lamurde Local Government and former Commissioner for the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs Adamawa. He was a deputy Governor from 29 May 2019, till 29 May 2023, owing to the fact that the incumbent Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, had appointed a woman, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, to replace him in the Governor's second term, to balance the gender roles in government according to the Governor. Seth was a legal adviser to the People's Democratic Party prior to his nomination and election as Deputy Governor.

Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, also known as Binani, is a Nigerian politician and entrepreneur who was the senator for Adamawa Central from 2019 to 2023. On 30 March 2020, she was appointed Gimbiyar Adamawa by the Adamawa Emirate Council.

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections were held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.

The 2023 Nigerian presidential election in Adamawa State will be held on 25 February 2023 as part of the nationwide 2023 Nigerian presidential election to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Other federal elections, including elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate, will also be held on the same date while state elections will be held two weeks afterward on 11 March.

Ngozi Nma Odu is a Nigerian politician and professor of microbiology who serves as the deputy governor of Rivers State. She was elected during the 2023 Rivers State gubernatorial election alongside the governor Siminalayi Fubara. She was born in Egi clan in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.
